Round Kunisaki Peninsula – Roadside Stations and 5 Local Supermarkets!
In Oita’s Kunisaki Peninsula, which I visited as part of my SFC training, I will be touring a local supermarket and a roadside station.
Tokiha Industry, a famous local supermarket in Oita, to Bungotakada City.
Do you know the famous local supermarket Tokiwa Industries in Oita Prefecture?

It is a big supermarket. The seafood from the sea and mountains in Oita is amazing. Awesome!
Sweet summer, hassaku, and mikan (mandarin orange). Oita’s citrus fruits are abundant in variety and taste great!
It’s the sashimi section of the supermarket, but an absolutely delicious one.
Speaking of Oita Prefecture!
Kabosu yellowtail, Seki mackerel, Seki horse mackerel, Jyoshita flounder, hamo, Bungo beef, Kabosu, white onion, dried shiitake mushroom, buckwheat noodles, barley shochu, buckwheat shochu, etc.
Local Fish Festival 💖 This is the best. They all look fresh and delicious. I wonder if there are any Seki horse mackerels!
From here, we will introduce roadside stations and specialty products as we drive around Oita’s Kunisaki Peninsula.
Matama Coast
The sunset at Matama Coast, selected as one of the best 100 sunsets in Japan, is famous.
In Oita, the ocean is on the east side of the sunrise, but here you can see the setting sun on the west side.
The large mudflats are famous for the large number of yerba mate clams that are caught in the spring.
Awashima Park
Drive along Koi Kanade Road and make a short stop at Awashima Park with its beautiful rape blossoms.
Wow! There are so many cherry blossoms and they are so beautiful.
Wow, it’s the ocean!
Amazing cherry trees. The sunset from this tip is also said to be beautiful.
This may be the first time I have ever seen such a dense concentration of cherry trees.
I could enjoy the double of cherry blossoms and nanohana (rape blossoms). Please visit Awashima Park.
Oh, I want to come back in the evening next time! Now I’m off to look for local specialties!

Go to Sun Western Kaji, a direct sales place for agricultural and marine products. There is also a local supermarket, Super Kakaji, nearby.

Driving clockwise around Kunisaki Peninsula, I found a store called Sun Western.
There are oranges, kiwis, navels, and other Oita specialties.
The first of three consecutive roadside stations is Kunimi.

Wow, they are famous for prawns, too, aren’t they? Oh, there is a "wishing octopus" in front of the left side!
Fresh vegetables and fruits, wow – from dekopon to Tosa buntan (pomelo), and inexpensive!

Next to the roadside station is Kunimi Seaside Park, where you can take a relaxing break.
Second, we went to Roadside Station, Kunisaki. There is Sony’s semiconductor plant there!

We decided to go to "Yumesaki Teahouse" next to the roadside station recommended by Mr.O.
It’s like a direct sales place, full of citrus fruits. Cheap!
The third is to Oita Airport’s neighbor, Oita Sky.

Wow – there is an authentic pizza stone oven. It must be delicious when made with vegetables from Oita.
When you return from Oita Airport, you can buy a suitcase full of them and go home.
There are many Oita specialties, and I recommend this place over the airport.
You can also buy lunch and eat it on the plane on the way back.
Now for a view of the rest of the route to Beppu Onsen.
Wow – that’s Marushoku, a supermarket in Kitakyushu City!
A big luxury cruise ship is docked, isn’t it? Is it a spa resort?
A glimpse of Sunflower.
It’s Kitakyushu’s famous udon store Sukesan Udon.
There was a large Don Quijote and Beppu Tower.

I really liked this road, Route 10, because I could see the ocean.
It’s Marukyo, a supermarket in Northern Kyushu.
This is another representative supermarket of Oita, Marumiya Store.
Beppu Wakuwaku Onsen Kappa-no-Yu
Beppu Onsen Kappa no Yu closed last year. It was open at night and we took care of it.
Beppu is a nice place, you should come here once. Baicha!

ANA SFC修行で訪れた大分の国東半島。
自然豊かで食べ物がとても美味しいです。そんな国東半島をぐるっと車で一周して、地元スーパー、道の駅、観光名所を巡ります。
干潟で春はマテ貝が取れる真玉海岸は日本の夕陽百選に選ばれている有名な観光地で、恋叶ロードからの粟嶋公園でも素敵な夕日を見れます。大分は東側が海なので、西の海に沈む夕日を見るにはこの場所なんです。
大分には、カボスぶり、関サバ、関アジ、城下カレイ、ハモ、マテ貝、豊後牛、干し椎茸、かぼす、ハウスみかん、はっさく、甘夏、ネーブル、デコポン、キウイ、白ねぎ、そば、焼酎など美味しいものがいっぱいです。
地元のスーパーとして、トキハインダストリー豊後高田店、サン・ウエスタン香々地、道の駅くにみ、道の駅くにさき、大分の空むさし、マルショク、マルキョウ、マルミヤストアがありました。
最後に別府温泉で夜中までやっていて、昨年閉業したわくわく温泉 かっぱの湯に感謝して帰ります。
次回は、SFC修行でブロンズステータスになりましたのでお楽しみに！
