【熊野古道】和歌山県紀伊路を歩く旅。歴史や文化に触れ、醬油醸造の発祥地を訪れました(紀伊宮原駅〜湯浅駅)

I am currently at Kiimiyahara Station in Arida City, Wakayama Prefecture. This time we will take Kumano Kodo Kiiji for about 7km. I would like to walk to Yuasa Station, which is two stations away. Kumano Kodo was previously on this channel. I think I walked along Iseji. This time I will walk along Kiiji.

The Kumano Kodo is actually located in Wakayama Prefecture. It is a general term for the roads used to visit Kumano Sanzan. Part of it was registered as a World Cultural Heritage Site in 2004. There are six routes on the Kumano Kodo.

Until now, I have traveled on the Ise Route starting from Ise Shrine in Mie Prefecture. I walked Ohechi along the coastline of Wakayama Prefecture The Kiiji route we will be walking this time will be from Kyoto. Take a boat to Tenmabashi in Osaka

This is the path that is said to have been walked after landing from Temmabashi. Actually, I have walked along Kiiji. in December 2023 Participate in the Kiiji environmental conservation trekking tour At that time, I walked from Prince Fujishiro to Prince Tokorozaka. There are over 100 Ojis along the Kumano Kodo.

So that you can walk safely on your way to Kumano Sanzan. It is said to be a shrine that enshrines the god of Kumano Taisha. There are several princes on the course we walk this time. This time I would like to walk between Prince Itoga and Prince Sakagawa.

I think it will take about 4 hours to reach Yuasa Station. Let’s go then Your current location is here. Walk from here and pass through this Miyahara Bridge There’s a famous place called Tokushoji Temple, so I’ll stop by there. From Tokushoji Temple

Also stop by Itoga Inari Shrine, said to be the oldest Inari Shrine in Japan. I walk as if I was going over a mountain pass. I will be walking with this member today. First, we will walk to the Kumano Kodo path. Enter Kumano Kodo from here I went to Aridagawa “Ferryside ruins”

What kind of place is it? In the past, there were no big bridges, so you could cross to the other side of the Arida River. It is said that it was used as a docking point for people to board boats and cross over to the other side.

Cross Miyahara Bridge to the other side I will cross the Arida River Go down in the direction of the sign going through a residential area cross the national highway Tokusho-ji Temple is famous as the temple of Chujo-hime.

When she was young, Lieutenant General Princess was jealous of her stepmother and had her life threatened. I was hiding in Mt. Hibari. Weaving a fabric called a mandala in one night It is said that he healed people with his knowledge of medicinal herbs (Tsumura’s Chujo-yu is said to have originated from Chujo-hime).

On the anniversary of the princess’s death, a memorial service is held where children parade around wearing Bodhisattva masks. Itoga Inari Shrine, known as Japan’s oldest Inari Shrine It is said to be about 60 years older than Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto.

There are three camphor trees that are 500 to 600 years old that stand on the grounds. Next to Itoga Inari Shrine I came to the Kuma no Kodo History and Folklore Museum Unfortunately, we are closed today.

There’s a stamp book like this on Kiiji where you can stamp your stamps, so I’m going to stamp them here. This is it I’m going to stamp it here. So let’s press this number 10. This is how I got my first one Now, let’s go back

It’s a bit of a slope from here It feels like entering a mountain path. Mr. Fukui: I heard that it wasn’t originally here. Apparently (due to the devastation) local people are building a new shrine and worshiping there. Crow mark? ? It has 3 legs so it’s a pain!

Yatagarasu is said to be a messenger of the god of Kumano. Yatagarasu is said to be a messenger of the god of Kumano. Yatagarasu is said to be a messenger of the god of Kumano. Lots of mandarin orange fields! It was just the time to harvest early mandarin oranges.

I came to a fork in the road I’m going to go to that tower now. About 30 minutes from here? Here is the ruins of Itoga Oji. It was originally here Let’s go up This is how we walk through the tangerine fields Orange fields all around 🍊

I want to eat! ! ! ! lol An observation spot where you can see the tangerine fields after a short climb. The atmosphere has changed and it has become a bamboo forest. There are signs so it’s easy to understand! There was an arbor Just a little break 🍵 Climb up the winding path

We will soon arrive at Itoga Pass. It’s a climb, but it’s not that steep. Arrival at Itoga Pass I’m curious about what’s at the end of the tunnel! I got out That’s a nice view I was now at Itoga Pass, the highest point (167m). From there, we will go down towards Yuasa town.

And I’m going to eat lunch Before I knew it, Mr. Fukui’s hat had been arranged. Gyoja Stone It is said that people used this stone to purify their mind and body and pray for safety on the way and the fulfillment of their prayers. There is also a restroom in the back.

Torii has appeared Arriving at the second prince First, visit the shrine This is Sakagawa Oji’s sealing place. I have to do a stamp I got Prince Sakagawa Mr. Fukui: This river flows from the sea to the mountains. Me: What do you mean? Mr. Fukui: Actually, this is where we end up.

It is called “Mizujiri”. Generally, the place name is This is where the water is lowest and gathers. Although it is on the mountain side, it is a low place. It is called a “reverse river” because it flows from the sea toward the mountains.

And since the river is in the opposite direction, it is not auspicious. It’s called “Yoshikawa” I use the character “Kichi” This area is called Yoshikawa. Cloistered Emperor Goshirakawa’s rock A well where water is said to have come out when Kobo Daishi poked it with his cane. Hozutoge Pass

It is said to have been the gateway to Yuasa. From the paved road to the original Kumano Kodo Suddenly it started to look like an old road. I will pass through the tangerine field I will go down the atmospheric road It became a (tree) tunnel. feel well

It quickly merged with the paved road. I just came down from here It is said that Yuasa Castle was originally located around here. I found an unmanned sales office in the parking lot of a private house! And there are samples for tasting. Can I have a taste? It’s so delicious! !

A very delicious mandarin orange with a good balance of sourness and sweetness and a thin skin. I bought 3 bags I was worried because it was still coming in… But I’ll leave it at this. But I’ll leave it at this. It got a lot heavier because of the oranges in it lol

I am very happy that I was able to purchase the mandarin oranges I had always wanted♪ Because there is a signboard like this It’s easy to find even in the city There’s a stamp, right? 12 Yuasa Traditional Buildings Preservation District I was able to get 3 stamps today.

There are 19 places on Kiiji where you can get stamps. If you press all 19 places, Apparently you can get a certificate of completion. There are 4 stamp books in total. If you complete all four of these steps, you will receive a “Super Completion Certificate”.

It seems that you can have this seal book sent to your home in advance. Please check the link in the overview section for more details. The stone marker says, “Soon Kumano Road South, Right Ise Kauya Road West.” This is JR Yuasa Station The goal, Yuasa Station, is right in front of me.

I’m a little hungry I would like to eat the famous lunch. Raw whitebait caught in the morning Transparent and beautiful Serve with rice Add ginger to Yuasa soy sauce. delicious~~! It melts in an instant and the sweetness spreads softly. It’s completely different from the kettle-fried whitebait you usually eat.

Whitebait that feels very fresh The raw shirasu bowl was really delicious. I’m heading to Yuasa Station, the finish line, now. It was already a stone’s throw away We arrived at the goal point, Yuasa Station. I would like to take this opportunity to walk around the streets of Yuasa. This part is painted brown

This is the Traditional Buildings Preservation District In what is called the so-called Denken district. There are over 140 various old buildings registered here. They are scattered all over the place, so it is difficult to see them all. I would like to go around this street once. Among them, from the late Edo period

You can see buildings from the Meiji, Taisho, and Showa eras. Normally this It’s the remains of a public bath called Jinburo. It’s set up like a folklore museum, so you can go around here as well. It’s set up like a folklore museum, so you can go around here as well.

Today is Wednesday, so I have a day off. This place opened last year It’s the former Suhara family residence, the original brewery’s house. You can experience making soy sauce virtually. Today is Wednesday, so I have a day off. Me: No good…Wednesday I think it will feel like it only rotates outwardly.

Fukui-san’s happi coat is so cool! Apparently all the old townscapes are drawn like this. I decided to wear it… Nice old townscape A gold plate is attached as proof that it is a traditional building. Round tiles are a characteristic of this town. Another feature is the latticework.

Kinzanji miso is made by fermenting and aging vegetables such as melon, eggplant, and ginger to soybeans and barley koji. It is said that the precipitated liquid of this miso became soy sauce. It goes well with rice and is also great as a snack with alcohol 🍶 Nice to enter the small path

Jinburo at Folklore Museum I definitely want to visit next time Kadocho (Kano family residence), which became a national important cultural property in 2022 In 2017, it was designated as a Japanese heritage site as the birthplace of soy sauce brewing. thank you Go to the soy sauce museum across the street

You can see the history of soy sauce and tools. We enjoyed walking around the city while learning about the history and culture of soy sauce brewing. Next, we will actually tour the soy sauce brewery. Let it rest in wooden barrels for about a year and a half. Removing soy sauce residue

I was given special permission to go inside. After being squeezed out, it will be used as food for animals. Compress it with a machine and squeeze out the soy sauce Put it in a tank, pasteurize it, sterilize it, and bottle it. It is a barrel that is soaked in salt water.

Me: Is it made in such a big barrel? Let it sit here for a year and a half, then narrow it down to what you saw below. You can also see the bottling process. I was given a special opportunity to go inside the factory.

I saw them just adding koji for black bean soy sauce. black bean koji How does it taste? ? It tastes like natto It’s amazing how this turns into soy sauce! It’s amazing because it tastes completely different. This is the soy sauce I saw at the factory I’ll try it out

A slightly mild soy sauce We will also have soft serve ice cream made with the black soy sauce we mentioned earlier. Looks delicious ♡ Serve with soy sauce delicious~! This is good. The sweet and salty flavor is a bit addictive. Is there something sweet after this walk? I think it’s really great

After finishing all the shooting, I returned to Yuasa Station. I left Kiimiyahara station this morning. You will have walked about 10km to this point. There are really a lot of places to see. There was a tangerine field Home to Japan’s oldest Inari Shrine

As it is the birthplace of soy sauce, it has an old townscape. It was really fun to walk The road is paved so it’s very easy to walk. I was able to cross the pass in no time. There are several courses along Kiiji. This course is said to be the most introductory course.

I think it would be easy for beginners to walk as well. Also gourmet! There was a raw shirasu bowl. There was soy sauce soft serve I was happy because there were so many delicious foods. I think the coming season is a great time to walk along Kiiji.

I think it’s a little hot in the summer By all means from this winter to early spring I think it’s best to walk If you are interested, there is a link in the summary section. Please check it There are many other Kiiji courses as well. I would like to conquer it too

So this time, I would like to introduce you to the Kumano Kodo Kiiji Route. See you again in the next video
