Switzerland’s Unique Alpine Pass With a Dead-End Road | Driving Sanetsch Pass

🇨🇭 Experience a spectacular 4K POV drive over the distinctive Sanetsch Pass in Valais, Switzerland. This cinematic Swiss Alps drive follows a narrow mountain road through forests, dramatic cliffs, hairpin bends and rock tunnels to the pass summit at 2,253 m. The route reveals an incredible variety of landscapes — from wooded slopes to Alpine pastures and rugged limestone formations near the Tsanfleuron Glacier. What makes Sanetsch special is that the road crosses the pass but ends beyond it, near Lake Sanetsch and its dam, with no onward road connection to the next valley. The return drive reveals this unusual Alpine road from a completely different perspective.

🏔️ Sanetsch lies in the western Bernese Alps, on the watershed between the Rhône and Rhine river systems: water flowing south reaches the Mediterranean Sea, while water flowing north eventually reaches the North Sea. Near the pass, the limestone pavements of Lapis de Tsanfleuron reveal a landscape shaped by ice and water. Beyond the summit lies Lake Sanetsch, also known as Lac de Sénin, at approximately 2,034 m above sea level. A small cable car connects this remote mountain setting with the Bernese side above Gsteig, allowing pedestrians and cyclists to continue where cars cannot.

📍 Route: Chandolin (Savièse) → Sanetsch Pass / Col du Sanetsch (2,252 m) → Lake Sanetsch / Lac de Sénin → Sanetsch Dam → Sanetsch Pass → Chandolin (Savièse) | Canton Valais, Switzerland

  1. Ciao e stato un bel viaggio andato e ritorno villaggi indescrivibile mai visti ecco la natura ci nasconde alle prossime avventure ciao

  2. I sit and watch your tours from Scotland, there are some areas and I will think that looks a wee bit like Scotland.
I enjoy it all, Thankyou for taking us everywhere, it's just stunning Switzerland. The colours of the countryside, the views, the scenery, the villages and towns you take us through, lovely, and just the typical Switzerland houses scattered all over, so lovely to see, and the variety that you do of the country. The mountains are something else, and the roads to get up and over them, well the work that's gone into the roads just unbelievable at times. And then I think how on earth do they survive in the what looks like in the middle of nowhere, especially in the winter months, but they do.

  4. I love these videos, it give you serenity, peace and fill yourself with wonder!! Thank you so very much!! The most beautiful country in the world!!! ♥♥
