Part 3 is the part where we will finally enter the mountains and leave the city. We start through back streets and the Saga Toriimoto Preserved Street, after which we head up the mountain in western direction.
Most Arashiyama walking tours show the exact same overcrowded main street and bamboo grove. This 3-hour immersive summer hike takes you far beyond the usual tourist traps, following the scenic Katsura River up into the mountains and completing a peaceful loop along the crystal-clear Kiyotaki River before heading back into Arashiyama.
