The Shrine That Continues to Watch Over a Remote Mountain Hamlet : Soga Shrine, Ehime, Japan

Soga Shrine is located deep in the mountains of southeastern Ehime Prefecture. Although houses are scattered throughout the area, there is not a single person in sight. The school building of an elementary school that closed in 1990 remains in relatively good condition, suggesting that this area once had its own bustling era.
Although the surrounding area has fallen into complete disrepair, visitors have not entirely stopped coming to pay their respects, and the shrine continues to be an object of worship to this day.
