We begin near the north end of Jiarong Bridge, follow Guangming Road, Shunhe Bridge and Sanchahe South Road, then turn around near Meirengu Hotel and finish at the south end of Jiarong Bridge. The 6.96 km journey takes about 25 minutes. Early in the drive, the remaining twilight reveals the mountains around town. As darkness settles, attention shifts to building lights, shop signs and everyday traffic.
🏔️ A town shaped by its river valley
Danba’s county seat, Zhanggu, occupies a narrow valley in the mountains of western Sichuan. Steep slopes and rivers shape the space available for streets and buildings, while bridges connect the riverbanks. From road level, the drive offers a close look at how a small town fits into this demanding landscape.
Near the Sanchahe confluence, the Dajin and Xiaojin rivers meet; the river downstream is known as the Dadu. This meeting of waterways helps explain the town’s riverside layout and the importance of its bridges.
