Mt Fuji Tour Pt. 3 – #SaikoIyashinoSato Nemba #mtfujitour #traditionaljapan #mtfujivlog #japantravel
We’re leaving Tokyo behind for a full day exploring Mt. Fuji sites and the traditional villages with sacred sites surrounding Japan’s most iconic mountain! Our journey begins at Oshino Hakkai, a stunning set of eight sacred ponds fed by snowmelt from Mt. Fuji. These crystal-clear spring-fed pools are believed to be holy, and the offspring enjoyed a sip. Lunchtime brings an exciting treat for me – I try eel (unagi) for the very first time at a traditional Japanese restaurant! Watch my genuine reaction as I take that first bite of eel and discover a new favorite food! Next, we head to Arakurayama Sengen Park, home to the world-famous Chureito Pagoda viewpoint. This is THE iconic shot you’ve seen all over Instagram and travel magazines – the five-story pagoda with Mt. Fuji perfectly framed in the background. The climb up nearly 400 steps is worth every bit of effort when you reach the top and see that breathtaking view, even shrouded in clouds. Our final stop is Saiko Iyashi-no-Sato Nemba, a beautifully restored traditional Japanese village at the base of Mt. Fuji. This open-air museum features thatched-roof houses (kayabuki) that showcase rural Japanese life from centuries past. Watch it here – https://youtu.be/IhGEEqsoRGw

DESTINATION: Mount Fuji
Japan’s Mt. Fuji is an active volcano about 100 kilometers southwest of Tokyo. Commonly called “Fuji-san,” it’s the country’s tallest peak, at 3,776 meters. A pilgrimage site for centuries, it’s considered one of Japan’s 3 sacred mountains, and summit hikes remain a popular activity. Its iconic profile is the subject of numerous works of art, notably Edo Period prints by Hokusai and Hiroshige.
