@seanweeklywildlife // The Sparrow-Hawk is a clean bird and bathes fairly regularly, but it is a matter of great luck to be able to watch one in a completely wild state. I was photographing Red Squirrels in the Netherlands and whilst in the hide I spotted this female Sparrow hawk fly through the woodland a couple of times so I was hoping to get a shot of that, but I never expected her to land just a few metres away from me!
My adrenaline certainly kicked in once it landed, and I was torn between quickly moving my camera around to as fast as I could to get a shot or move extremely slowly and maybe not get a shot at all, I of course decided to move slowly and had a good while with her bathing in the shallow water.
What an incredible encounter!
