The Pacific trash vortex, also known as the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, is a huge accumulation of trash made predominantly of plastic and microplastic (<50mm), located at the subtropical ocean vortex of the North Pacific. The convergence of surface currents formed by the winds, causes the entrapment in this area of waste and natural debris. The presence of this and other rubbish conglomerates scattered all over the globe, has led the Italian artist Maria Cristina Finucci to classify them as federal territories of a State and therefore to found the Garbage Patch State, having an area of 15,915,933 km2 (more than the area of Spain+France+Italy), recognized as a federal state by UNESCO on April 11, 2013. ⠀ ⠀ Tag someone that should see this!👇 🎥 CAROLINE POWER PHOTOGRAPHY
