Inside China’s POOREST Cliff Village 🇨🇳
If you’ve ever wanted to experience the China you see in our videos, come travel with us:

In this video, we’re in Liangshan, in southern Sichuan Province. It’s a region largely inhabited by the Yi people and, for a long time, has been one of the poorest areas in China.
We visited a village perched high on a cliff, accessible only by an almost vertical ladder. In the past, schoolchildren had to climb up and down this ladder every day just to get to school.
The hike up was incredibly exhausting and took us at least 2–3 hours. Once we reached the village, we met a lovely local family who welcomed us into their home and showed us what life is like up there.

A lot of risk and trouble to go up to the mountain villages using the metal stairs. Kudos to both of you for the remarkable effort and formidable will to visit the villagers.
You would really have to want to go to school to climb those ladders every day. Have to respect the builders of the ladders.
Thank you for your serie of wonderful videos. You are really extreme brave two people. If some one give me a fortune I wouldn't clime up this ladder. It's really scary stuff. China has really outstanding crazy stuff ( bridge of glas etc ) This must be extremely dangerous for young people ( children) to climb each day, I don't want to know how much has been doing by accidently falling of the ladder. And you have done it in nice weather, how could it be, if it rains and everything is slippery . Good Lord, what a hard ship . Please don't risk your life, and think of your safety and health. I would have enough after 20 minutes climbing, not hours of climbing and than the same going down. you two are amazing in any way possible. But be attentiv , she has already broken one leg on the tour. : = )
what were this people 10 years ago, circus people, these people wth the olf cimbing system ? I bet only the young ones go up and down , I can't imagine how there an 70-80 year old can cimb there up or down. Its not only the old ladder that's crazy risky but if you climb 3 to 4 hours, you are very tired, and when tired you can make mistakes, what in this situation can be very harmful.
Thats absolutely incredible..
목숨걸고 등산해야 하네요 ㅎㅎ
Thank you again for another wonderful view into China. So many people think that China is only Beijing or Hong Kong. It's so awesome to see all of these beautiful places. As a bonus from watching your videos, I have learned some basic Mandarin words!
謝謝你yan、Flo的分享❤️❤️❤️
各位朋友🌸🌸🌸
My morning routine on Saturdays, get a coffee and watch your wonderful videos, thank you so much Yan and Flo you guys are the best..Greetings from Mexico 🇲🇽
Chinese local taxi cartel shenanigans never fail to find their marks.
Oh wow this was utterly amazing – well done both of you! So interesting too. But I just cannot image that young Mum living such a hard life with young children in such a remote place. Thank you for exploring it all for us.
in 10 years, they'll all be rich with lots of money.
Rural China is so beautiful
12.9.2026.First class, fantastic, beautiful, wonderful pictures.I am eagerly awaiting more videos like this.Thank you.💯👍🥀🪴🌺🌹💐💐🏵️

Hello miss yon mountain ladder is too hard. Eleveter is best. Thank you for your 🎥videos
The real China 🇨🇳 we never show on social media..this is incredibly amazing
incredible ! thank you
Incredible! Thanks.
It's hard to put into proper perspective that the steel ladder is the "modern, easy" way to make the climb and the old vine-type ladder runs its own route, strapped tightly to the cliff. Then you get to the top and there's snack shops and restaurants and people farming and raising sheep.
Amazing. Thank you for your hard work.
Wonderful video as always, thank you both for your efforts ❤
Were there any accidents in the past?
Just think, you did this on a sunny day. A rainy day walking on metal pipes should be extremely challenging.
❤
As usual another fascinating and instructive video.
Thank you, Yan and Flo for sharing this video, thank you for showing the reality to the world , what China’s accomplishments in improving the lives of the Chinese people, through your personal family lives. Much appreciated Yan and Flo💕
Thank you for another amazing video! The people living in this village must be top fit. At least the ones who still climb that ladder.
Nihao (hello) Jan and Flo. Just when I thought climbing the Gates to Heaven was very difficult you both surprised me ( and your followers) with the Cliff Village climb, I was exhausted just following your video. Interesting yes…amazing of course! I would never be able to climb those ladders or any, I am afraid of heights. Poor children having to go up n down those old ladders years ago, unbelievable! No doubt you two are doing a great service to your beautiful country, let the world know, what China has to offer. I could not help but feel feel for the young mother cleaning the water off the floor with a baby in her back. Life is terribly hard. Same for the man that tends to his sheep, what a lonely life.
That was some journey today, exhausting!!! and getting a ride to Rama Town a bit difficult. I appreciate more my simple, comfortable, retired happy life at home so much more. Very educational. Thank you and please stay safe rest well. Zai Jian (good bye) friends until your next exploration. 💖👋👋
AMAZING! Sincerely hope there are safety harnesses.
love from northeast India
Wow…these people live here are amazing for climbing that later daily
why people live in those hard to get places? its to survive raids by other ethnic group in ancient times. if they live on flat plain land, they can easily be conquered and be wiped out. armies will have a hard time climbing those hills just to loot and pillage a village. just like the mountain goats living of the side of a mountain to avoid predators. a good hiding place for humans is a survival instinct. can you imagine the terror one feels to be driven to live in those hard to get places.
Yan and Flo are the “Great couple everywhere “ Do you have any plans to go to other countries, once you’ve covered most of China? Of course , that may take a while.
Great video. Thanks for sharing this.
This village needs a ropeway.
Next video, I hope Yan and Flo will film an elevator up to the mountain as well.
That a very difficult life Yan
Appreciated very much following your travels to out of the way places. Humbling to observe the resilience of the locals. 🙏
It is nice that the lady cleaning the floor wanted to explain what life is like.
Impossible to think people can live using this orrible way to go home !!🤯🤯🤯🤯 need courage and will to use it even one time !!!!!!!
Need to build a sort of transport for those poor children and people living up there….first thing !!!
At least they have clean air
I'm an Indonesian chinese, my grandfather from my mother side fled to Indonesia during the WW2 so seeing China improved so much also makes me happy.
Round smooth bars, very slippery when wet. Must be a very expensive latter system.
Good video Yan l don’t think l could climb those metal stairs and quite scary for heights and l think this is a best video so far something different 👍
Guys 😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
