32:45 I have memories of this bridge from 1969 when I was a kid. In those days the road was mostly gravel; and our family picnicked under the bridge on our way to Arthur's Pass. At one point in our stay in Arthur's Pass, we had to hike to a waterfall to collect water as our car's radiator had boiled. I'm not sure if it was the waterfall you visited or another one, though. That trip was also my first memory of seeing snow.
Last time I was in Punakaiki was January 2008. It was over 30 degrees in the shade, and with all the palm trees around, it felt like we were back in the Philippines again. Those palm trees are Nikau Palms, and are native to New Zealand.

You have to stop somewhere at low-tide and collect pipis or cockles or look for mussels and oysters. I'm sure someone will help you out and make sure you get some. Then, you can have a little cook up and have a nice pasta or just bbq shellfish beachside.

The wooden posts with the sheep under them are hop gardens… the bits you thought were bird scarers are left over string – the vines grow up the strings and are cut down. This is the commercial hop growing district in NZ.

The "No dogs" rule/law is to protect the natural (and fragile) wildlife. There are many different species that live on the ground and are very vulnerable (dogs will chase). And dogs also carry diseases which can be affect wildlife.

Headland where you stopped and met the policeman is 10 Mile Gorge with view south to 9 Mile Bay where we have a family 'bach' holiday home. Our kids nickname it 'Nanas beach' – fossic for jade pebbles & sunset bonfires looking over the Tasman Sea. Glad you are enjoying exploring our unique country. We have started to document some of our NZ outdoor adventures on You Tube too. Inspired by your Mt. Sunday walk to visit that area – sometimes we don't realise or appreciate how special are the places near where we live. Thank you for reminding us 😊

Just want to point to one obvious reason for the water, every night you are getting frost and ice on the roof and during the day it starts to melt and hey presto a trickle of water. 😉
