I Finally Found a Bike Shop. Bad News
Cycling the world – Asia: episode 50
I wake up in the middle of the Omani mountains and begin a huge descent back toward the coast, hoping a bike shop in Sur can finally save my failing rear hub. After a bizarre encounter with a viewer who recognises me and a terrifying close call with a car, I reach the shop only to discover the damage is worse than expected. The freewheel is destroyed and there are no replacement parts, forcing us to improvise with a smaller rear wheel just to keep the journey moving. After camping on the roof of the bike shop, I get back on the road and return to my bikepacking route with a temporary solution that only needs to survive until Muscat.
