Starts with Fireworks and Ends with Bon Dance: Tokyo Midsummer 2026 Walking Tour [4K/HDR]

Bon or Obon season has arrived in Japan, bringing a special summer atmosphere to Tokyo. As many people leave the city to visit their hometowns, Tokyo feels a little quieter than usual. At the same time, summer traditions like fireworks and Bon dancing bring people together across the city. In today’s Tokyo walking tour, we start with the Jingu Gaien Fireworks and end with Bon dance right in the heart of Shibuya. Join me for a summer night in Tokyo and experience two classic Japanese summer traditions.

  1. Hello, Yoshi-san. Crowd control by Police is such a difficult job. They are very polite, "kudasai" is their most repeated word, however, people sometimes do not follow guidelines. Fireworks and bon dances are the highlight of summer in Japan. Thank you for taking us on another wonderful walk. Always enjoyable and fun to watch. Take care and stay healthy. Otsukaresama desu! 🙌🏻
