2日間で10万人を動員した「中野駅前大盆踊り大会2026」
初日には、エド・シーランの曲を大東京音頭の振付で踊るサプライズな時間もありました！
実施前にブリティッシュカウンシルの方が「英国で代表的なアーティストといえばエド・シーラン。エド＝江戸」と言葉遊びであることも説明し、江戸＝東京ということで、大東京音頭の振付をアレンジ。本番が始まるとブリティッシュカウンシルの方も一緒に踊り、素敵な時間となりました。

“Nakano Ekimae Bon Odori Festival 2026” drew 100,000 people over two days.
On the first day, there was even a surprise performance where the crowd danced to Ed Sheeran’s songs with choreography based on the “Dai Tokyo Ondo”! Before the event, a representative from the British Council explained that “When it comes to iconic British artists, Ed Sheeran comes to mind. Ed = Edo,” playing on the word “Edo.” Since Edo is another name for Tokyo, they adapted the choreography for the “Great Tokyo Ondo.” When the performance began, the British Council representative joined in the dancing, making for a wonderful moment.

    This is "Bon Odori," a Japanese religious festival. It’s a cultural blend of Buddhism and traditional ancestor worship, held from July to August to welcome back the spirits of the deceased. Everyone dances with the same choreography, moving counterclockwise around a central tower called a "Yagura" where the musicians perform.
