Starke to St. Marks | RV Life, Small Towns & a Bit of History
In this week’s episode, we explore some lesser-known but fascinating parts of Florida. Our journey begins at the Starke/Gainesville KOA, our home base while we check out the charming and historic town of Starke. With its mid-1800s railroad roots and small-town southern feel, it’s a great spot to explore on bike — especially the Historic Call Street District.
Next, we head to Jacksonville to visit Retro Renos, a company that specializes in fiberglass RV repairs and upgrades. As long-time Escape Trailer owners, we’ve followed them for years and were thrilled to finally meet the team, tour their shop, and see their exclusive collection of Escape Travel Trailers — including the brand new 23′ model with twin beds. This stop is a must-watch for any RV enthusiast or fiberglass trailer fan!
While driving back to the campground, a rogue rock chipped our windshield — but luckily we found Auto Glass Assist, a family-run business that delivered top-notch service and saved the day with a fast, affordable repair.
We continue our Florida RV adventure by overnighting at a peaceful campground in Newport, near Tallahassee. From there, we hop on our bikes for a scenic 10-mile round-trip ride to St. Marks, one of North America’s oldest settlements. Set along the St. Marks River and steeped in Spanish colonial history, this quiet waterfront town was well worth the journey.

Retro Reno’s is great!
I really enjoy watching your videos, no sensational click bait as others do. I enjoy watching the bike rides, my husband and I just purchased ebikes and eager to explore. We live in south Alabama near the Florida/Georgia state lines, so you are exploring in areas not far from us. Safe travels.
We LOVE that area! Spent T’giving at Amelia Island and as always visited Bueno Ondo, our favorite vegan restaurant in that area! I think St Augustine is fascinating as well. In fact, we will likely have our E23 delivered to Retro Renos, now that we know about them!! And check out Starke! Thank you!

We are having our new E23 delivered to Retro Reno’s in May! Fairly close to us and plan to “Shake down” stay, while there!
