Sailing into Buenos Aires on the Peace Boat world cruise, I explore El Ateneo Grand Splendid – a 1919 theatre turned bookstore, regularly named one of the most beautiful in the world. First time in Argentina takes me past the Obelisco, the Hell-Purgatory-Heaven architecture of Palacio Barolo, colorful La Boca, and the rotating Puente de la Mujer. Plus a one-point table tennis loss and a string quartet moment that pulled me straight back to Vienna.
