Brompton × Tokyo Akabane Itabashi Nakano
We went on an exciting Tokyo urban ride starting from Akabane Station!
We first stopped by the “UR Museum of Housing and Urban Living” to learn about the history of Tokyo’s housing, then checked out an old retro gymnasium in Kirigaoka. From there, we pedaled through the lively Happy Road Oyama shopping arcade in Itabashi, and made our way to the famous subculture hub, Nakano Broadway.
Finally, we wrapped up our ride by cruising through the vibrant, culturally rich neighborhoods of Koenji and Asagaya. It was a wonderful route filled with Tokyo’s unique local charm and nostalgic retro vibes!
赤羽駅を出発点に、東京の北から西へと街の表情の変化を楽しむポタリングに出かけました！
まずは赤羽の「URまちとくらしのミュージアム」に立ち寄り、桐ヶ丘のどこか懐かしい古い体育館を見学。そこから板橋へと走り、活気あふれる「ハッピーロード大山」のアーケード街を通り抜けます。さらにペダルを漕ぎ進めてサブカルチャーの聖地「中野ブロードウェイ」へ。
旅の締めくくりは、独特のローカルカルチャーが心地よい高円寺・阿佐ヶ谷エリアまで。東京のディープな魅力とレトロな空気感をたっぷり満喫した1日の記録です。

My mom grew up in Akabane. She remembers going to the Iwabuchi (watergate) before the war. I visited our family in Akabane a couple of years ago and we had a picnic there at the park. All my relatives live in Kita-ku for the most part. I got this video as a feed as a cyclist. I was shocked to see where it was from! Thank you!
