Join us on an early summer trip to Izu, Shizuoka, one of Japan’s most beautiful destinations during hydrangea season!
In this vlog, we visit the famous Shimoda Hydrangea Festival and admire over 3 million hydrangeas in full bloom along the scenic hills overlooking the coast. We also explore the charming Teddy Bear Museum, featuring a special My Neighbor Totoro exhibition that Ghibli fans will love.
Later, we stay in the peaceful hot spring town of Okawa Onsen and spend the evening watching magical fireflies at Takegasawa Park. Despite traveling during Japan’s rainy season, we were lucky to enjoy stunning flowers, relaxing onsen, beautiful coastal scenery, and unforgettable summer moments.
