Musashi-Koganei Station is a major station on the JR Chuo Line located in Honcho 6-chome, Koganei City, Tokyo.
While the area around the station has seen a dramatic improvement in convenience thanks to redevelopment, it remains extremely popular among families and singles alike as a “town that strikes a good balance between convenience and nature,” where residents can enjoy the rich natural surroundings of Musashino.
🚉 Transportation Access Features
・Direct access to the city center: It takes about 28 minutes to Shinjuku Station by rapid train, and you can also reach Tokyo Station directly without transferring.
・Convenient first trains: Because there is a train depot (Toyoda Rolling Stock Center Musashi-Koganei Branch) near the station, trains originating from this station are scheduled, allowing you to commute to work or school while seated.
・Convenient Bus Network: Both the North and South exits feature large bus terminals, ensuring smooth travel to surrounding residential areas and other train lines.
Additionally, the “COCO Bus,” a 100-yen community bus that circulates throughout the city, is in operation.

・The Station Was Born from “Cherry Blossoms”: It began in 1924 (Taisho 13) as a “temporary stop” for people coming to admire the area’s famous cherry blossoms, and has a history spanning over 100 years.
・Why “Musashi-Koganei”?: Since there was already a “Koganei Station” in Tochigi Prefecture, the station was named by adding “Musashi,” the name of the old province, to the name.
Locally, it is affectionately known as “Musako.”

・誕生のきっかけは「桜」：1924年（大正13年）、地元名物の桜を鑑賞する人々のために「仮乗降場」として作られたのが始まりで、100年以上の歴史があります。
・なぜ「武蔵」小金井？：すでに栃木県に「小金井駅」が存在していたため、旧国名の「武蔵」を冠して名付けられました。
地元では「ムサコ」の愛称で親しまれています。
