In March, cherry blossoms are still in full bloom, and a warm outer coat is essential. As you walk, you might see some people taking off their jackets, while others are already dressed in early summer outfits — it is truly the turning of the seasons. The unique denim styles of the passersby also add a special touch to the street scenes typical of this time of year. Don’t miss the vibrant energy of Naka-Ikebukuro Park, beautifully colored by cherry blossoms.
As the video progresses into the second half, the scenery transitions to late May in Ikebukuro, where the sunlight grows noticeably stronger. You will see parasols blooming — a sight never seen in March — and people’s outfits becoming noticeably brighter and lighter. In the latter half of the May walk, we capture the real, unfiltered face of Ikebukuro: walking from the West Exit near Pasela, going through the deep atmosphere of the local nightlife area, passing the energetic Tokiwa-dori Avenue known for its maid cafe culture, and heading towards the North Exit.
Although it is only a two-month difference, you can clearly feel the steady advance of the seasons through the changes in people’s fashion and the intensity of the light. Especially during the current rainy season, I hope you enjoy this cinematic contrast between spring and early summer, along with the authentic ambient sounds of the city.
まだ桜が咲き誇り、アウターが手放せない3月。少し歩けば上着を脱ぐ人もいれば、気の早い夏の装いも見え隠れする、まさに季節の変わり目です。行き交う人々のこだわりのデニムスタイルも、この時期ならではの街の映像を彩ります。動画に登場する、桜咲く豊島区立中池袋公園の熱気あふれる活気も必見です。
そこから時が経ち、映像の中盤からは日差しが強さを増す5月後半の池袋へと景色が切り替わります。3月には見られなかった日傘の花が咲き、道行く人々の服装も、明らかに明るく軽やかな薄着へと変化しています。5月編の後半では、西口のパセラ周辺からディープな空気が漂うホテル街を抜け、メイドたちが行き交う熱量高めのトキワ通りを経て北口方面へと向かう、池袋のリアルな素顔とルートを収録しました。
わずか2ヶ月という期間。しかし、すれ違う人々の装いや光の強さから、季節が確実に前へと進んでいることをはっきりと感じていただけるはずです。雨の多い今の時期だからこそ、この「春から初夏へのコントラスト」を、街のリアルな空気感とともにお楽しみください。
