The Ritual of Aging Tea

This is the “Cha-zume-no-gi” (Tea Packing Ritual), following the legend of Tokugawa Ieyasu, who established Chamachi 400 years ago and enjoyed tea aged in tea jars.

In Ieyasu’s time, they packed Tencha (the raw material for Matcha), but today, we pack Sencha.

The tea will be aged in the tea storehouse in Ikawa during the summer, and the “Kuchikiri-no-gi” (Jar Opening Ritual) will be held in autumn.
