Thailand’s deep south completely changed the way I see travel in this country. In this video, I leave behind the crowded tourist hotspots and explore the underrated provinces of Trang and Satun — two places filled with untouched coastlines, jungle roads, mountain viewpoints, hidden waterfalls, and some of the most peaceful scenery I’ve experienced in Thailand. From the quiet shores of Pak Bara Beach to the incredible views at Manang Viewpoint, this journey felt like discovering a completely different side of the country.
Along the way, I explored the stunning Wang Sai Thong Waterfall, drove through beautiful countryside roads, relaxed at Kachong Hills Resort, and walked high above the rainforest on the Trang Canopy Walk. I also stopped for authentic local food in Trang and spent time exploring the dramatic coastline that makes southern Thailand so special. This trip was less about ticking off tourist attractions and more about experiencing the freedom of slow travel, spontaneous adventure, and places that still feel genuinely undiscovered.
If you’re planning a trip to Thailand and want inspiration beyond Bangkok, Phuket, Krabi, or Chiang Mai, this video might completely change your perspective on where to travel next. Trang and Satun are full of hidden gems, friendly locals, incredible nature, and some of the most rewarding road trip experiences in Southeast Asia. I hope this video inspires you to explore deeper into Thailand and discover the beauty that exists far beyond the usual tourist trail.

Not sure if you're aware that this video, and it seems each previous video in this series that you link in your end-cards, are clickable / discoverable. You told me to "click here" at the end of the Koh Lipe video, so I did. 😜
Fantastic series so far! 🥰
I like your new format 😊
Gratitude comes before Blessings
I gotta learn to drive a motorbike…. (actually, I guess I gotta learn to drive first!). There's so many beautiful places to explore. Thanks, Paddy.
I’m a fan since you have your dreamy in the train to the south. Will always be here. You helped me through the toughest part of my live with your videos.
About slowing down,,, what would be a great series is Central America, in a much slower pace as you did before with the budgeteers.
Absolutely loving this series Paddy it belongs on the b b c!!
I love this new Southern series. It takes me back to the original Dreamy series and the good old days! Thank you for so many years of good videos. My vote would be more Thailand content, but I know your life has changed. You do whatever is best for you. We will be here watching and enjoying!
paddy….. Thanks for all your motivating videos. You definitlely inspire me to travel to the south of Thailand. Keep up the traveling journey you're on. Love the content you make
It is natural to question one’s path in life, and whether you want to keep doing what you have done for some time. Would something else be more interesting? More exciting? Having spent my career in a very stressful, intense career as a trial attorney, where I often asked myself such questions (as did others who shared my career), may I be so forward as to offer some thoughts:
1) You have been immensely successful at the career and site that you have developed. Sometimes we gravitate toward that at which we excel. Maybe it is where we belong.
In any event, you have a unique talent and exceptionally pleasant demeanor. And, you bring much joy to many many people. Maybe you are where you belong. For many of us, your videos are a welcome and relaxing reprieve.
2) There is something to be said for the adage that: The grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence. For instance, owning a bar or restaurant requires numerous hours, requires much capital, and involves limitless sources of frustration, such as government permits, inspections, employee issues, dealing with suppliers, and the public, and of course the uncertainty of any success. For instance, I recently watched a Youtuber in the Phillipines who finally realized that the restaurant he started there was not a monetary success, but only after consuming much of his financial resources .
You have achieved much deserved success , and maybe it is in part because it is where you belong. Every career can wear on us at times. But if we keep our course we may look back with satisfaction.
In any event, Thank you for the splendid content and thoughtful comments.
Nice reflections on your journey Paddy, not just on the bike of course, but in the evolution of the channel and life in general. For what it’s worth, the Dreamy series helped me, and many others I’m sure, endure lockdown and the boredom that entailed. So really we (I) should be thanking you. Keep going fella.
This is such a nice journey with you, thanks Paddy.
loving the new series, Paddy. You're a bloody legend paddy. Love to see you stay in asain and keep making content with Gary. How good is Micky Stotch paddy
I love Trang. You are so right Paddy. Love the South. What the hell am I doing back in the USA. First thing I am buying when I step off the plane. Going straight to Honda. Then putting me and my new bike on a train south for a few months. Hopefully I will find some mates on the road. Glad to see ya living the dream. For me I am mostly interested in Thailand content. But I also dream about having a business in Thailand. So that would be fun too, if you started a business and documented your progress. I have been with you since I say you laying on your bed talking about quitting your teaching job and saying you were going to travel every province in Thailand on a old Honda named Dreamy. Have enjoyed every video.
Cheers for the personal/professional reflection on the channel Paddy. We found you last year, loved your energy and smooth (Ricky Gervais lite) voice – it has become our morning coffee fix. I hear you about aging and energy. Now that you are married to the lovely Mrs. P and Joe is in Bangkok, some suggestions for content. Okinawa – the Japan Hawaii / Hong Kong shopping-history-food trip with Mrs. P / Nepal – hiking adventure with Joe. Finally, love to see a periodic food challenge eating super spicy and/or local food that may not appeal to Western palettes.
Thanks for another great video of the south! Someone also mentioned Okinawa–that's a great idea. Also, I would love to see more Vietnam, Malaysia or Indonesia. I know someone mentioned a while back on a Q&A about Canada (where I'm from). Yes it's big, but maybe focus on a section and season such as the fall colours in Ontario, or the beautiful rocky mountains in Alberta. Hiking is great in both locations too. Thank you for sharing, you have certainly inspired our travels 🙂
I can't believe it's been 5 years! I remember when you were on the cusp of making that initial decision. You were lying on your bedding full of contemplation. It turned out to be the best decision that you made. I have always loved your content both on this chanell & when you were with Thys & Lina on the Budgeteers (which I still watch btw). Whatever direction you decide to go in just remember to take us viewers with you, Take care.
The reason my wife and I loved you is because you decided to travel Thailand on Dreamy. The pandemic was a special time and you showed us Thailand without tourist. Content-creation wise I can’t give you advice which way you should go. Nevertheless we are enjoying your Southern travels. Maybe revisiting all the places, or provinces, you visited. And maybe Laos. But in a less time demanding pace. We did miss the intro though, but we both have a flair for the nostalgia. We didn’t enjoyed subscribe part for IG. Maybe it is better to put it at the start, or at the end. I don’t know. I we don’t have to enjoy everything, you’re still next level. You are trying. Besides, your slow pace videos are how videos should be and good for linking your old videos!
Perfect video to watch with a nice cold beer after a tiring sunny day here in the UK. Great stuff as always Paddy!
Before you even mentioned it Paddy I was thinking about the beginning of this channel for me and watching you change from a few condo and real estate visits to the day you were saying good bye to your CM home and family there and heading out on this incredible journey. I fell like I've been along to see a brother grow up in a way. I remember the Trang tree top walk very well and if I recall correctly heights were not a favorite for you in the past though you have moved well beyond that given all of the wild places you have toughed out and climbed despite the rickety ladders, 9 degree metal death traps pretending to be ladders etc. Very nostalgic and sweet memory. I wouldn't have missed it mate. And my thanks to you for being there grinding it out even when it is pouring cats and dogs!
This southern series is awesome, Paddy. It also visits the type of place many of us westerners hanker to go. Have you considered organising tours for small groups of 3-4 bikers to go to the places you have been. Your love of nature, the people (and especially the children) shines through. And you needn't personally lead the tour, but give the guidance. If you wish to get more input on my thoughts, or bounce ideas, let me know. (I am a retired management consultant and can help if you want at no cost).
You are an inspiration. Keep it up.
New to your channel 👋 and have been going back and watching your catalog of videos. I appreciate your videos are different to so much of the other travel content out there which feels like box ticking. Love that you are able to capture the real Thailand ~ the towns, the people.
We will be taking my two young kiddos to Thailand later in the year and my 3 year old has been watching some of your videos with me and is now very excited about her trip!
Nice little reprise Paddy.
One does hope that Zelda is back to her pristine condition.
Cheers big ears. 🍺🇦🇺
I am so glad you are doing this trip and just loving seeing all the sights. I just love Thailand thanks for doing this series
