They should have had those in the USA United States of America kind of sucks
You inspired me to go camping with my girlfriend! And travel and adventure ❤
Your videos are brilliant ❤
When I saw the title (before watching the video), I was thinking it's gonna come with a "special candy" and machines that sell "something" again 🤣😆
9:10 Nice Nissan Silvia with lightly modified
Also after I seen your video visit Kobe Doya I think this place are nicer than in Kobe
Nice video TG! 👍🏼 Thank you for taking us to Sanya with you. The hotel was not bad. Excellent price! I haven't seen a hotel those prices before. I like you have food distribution places to help the people in need ❤ The katsu and salad looked 😋 I already knew that owner could throw down in the kitchen 🤤🫰🏼TG, at times, your comments have me laughing 😂
It’s a mix of admiration and sadness to see so many older people continuing to work with such resilience. ❤
A slum might be a bit "too much" but it is kind of a depressing neighborhood imho. The newspaper vending machines might get rare but they are still around , i know for sure that kita-senju station has at least one.
I ever go yo sensoji Temple in asakusa Japan.
From Thailand.
Excellent vlog, as usual. Been to Tokyo but didn't visit Sanya. Well may be in next visit. Love from India.
welcome to Denny's lol
This hotel is look much better that Kobe's one. I will try to stay this area for next trip.
Thank you so much for showing us a different side of Tokyo.
40-50 years ago "concrete jungle" used to be a popular expression. This video is one of those that fully fits the meaning. Nothing like this in most of Europe with its very common brutalist (raw concrete buildings) neighborhoods, where trees alongside streets are almost always present, street gardens, green spaces between buildings or at least one of the above is present.
🎉🎉🎉🎉
I saw Sanya and was briefly confused. I'm planning a trip to China next winter and will be spending the last few days of the trip in Sanya, which is China's "Hawaii." 😂
Edit: Aw bless, I hope that the older gentleman running the tonkatsu place can make ends meet, the place might look rundown but the food he prepared looked amazing. I'd visit that area in Tokyo just for his tonkatsu. I'd also get soup from the 90 year old Man too. Blessings to them both. I have a soft spot for seniors. My comment is long, my apologies.
Enjoying this video! Getting to see the older architecture side-by-side with the newer Tokyo.
“Horse oil” ??
If you’re in Seattle, I owe you a coffee & a donut! 🍩
This is no "slum" compared w/city neighborhoods throughout America! Slumlording is e'where, w/increased rental $ & little or no maintenance e'where.
I always wondered about elderly or mobility assisted folks who I never see on Japanese streets in travel videos! Wondered if Japan had already killed 'em off like what's intended in America nowadays.
First time EVER I saw trash on a street in Japan (discarded cup).
That food place, he served you food with his bare hands? Especially cutting up the pork.. No health inspections or what?
This hotel would be a Godsend of affordable housing for America! But the American government corporate agenda is allowing fixed income & working poor to starve w/out a place to live. A modern way to kill off surplus population. Subtle.
Japanese food looks so delicious!
❤️! I just saw a caboose on a train?!?
Juyoh Hotel mentioned!! I've stayed there for 5 times now as a solo traveller. It's really good and affordable!!
About $480-$500 per month is reasonable rent for a lotta folks. Wish America didn't want to kill off working poor & fixed income. & includes WiFi!

Still nicer than the $7 hotel in Kobe
The in-room massages are pretty affordable, by US standards. But some places (around the world) are not for legit therapeutic services.
This video totally gives me the vibe of Perfect Days. Hirayama didn’t even live far from here—just three kilometers southeast of your hotel. I can almost see Kôji Yakusho locking up his bike at Asakusa Station in the final shot of your video. And the Skytree – it is an amazing tower, a true beauty.
😊🏆🏆
Very interesting! Usually you only get to see very expensive hotels on TV! Interesting to see the more basic side of Tokyo.
I loved this Travelgeek! I like older areas of cities. Your accommodations were reminiscent of some places I recall from my younger days. They were clean, simple and inexpensive places to stay and eat. Most of them were owned by local people who were warm and accommodating. I liked the look of your vegetable soup. It's proprietor doing everything in his 90's. Wow! I hope he can continue to live his life enjoyably and in good health. Thank you for giving us a window into this unique older community in Tokyo. 🙂
It seems like your courage to visit this area was rewarded with good experiences.
It's surprisingly quiet. And the roads are in incredible condition!
