We Visited Turkey’s MOST Devastated City: This Is What We Found 🇹🇷 I S3, EP38
Huge Thanks to our friend Ahmed from Hatay. Please support him and follow him on his YouTube channel and Instagram: @hardmaniver
After an unforgettable journey, we eventually left Syria and made our way to Istanbul, our final stop along the ancient Silk Road. On the way, we passed through Antakya, a place that felt deeply surreal. I had visited just three years earlier, shortly before the devastating earthquake. Today, much of the city still lies in ruins, yet signs of hope are everywhere. New homes are being built, and construction workers told us that many residents may be able to move into their houses within the next two months. For now, however, most people continue to live in large container villages as the rebuilding process continues.
From Antakya, we continued to Istanbul, the historic gateway between Asia and Europe, divided and connected by the Bosphorus. There, we explored hidden corners of the city that reveal layers of its rich past, while also diving into some of the most traditional and authentic Turkish foods.
This final chapter of our Silk Road journey is filled with powerful contrasts: resilience and rebuilding, history and modern life, Asia and Europe, all coming together in one unforgettable adventure 🎬

Thank you for everything, Yan and Flo, showing our city was appreciated. We hope to host you again in better times 😊🙏🏼

These are the best videos on YouTube.
Thanks for the journey on Silk Road ❤ Its enjoyable and informative journey where we have a peek on small details but of utmost importance on the history of Silk road – the very life of people along the way ❤😊❤.
Excited for the next journey whatever it is 😊
All the best for your amazing journey! You should consider running a tour company on your return back to China. Your abundant knowledge of the country is a great help!
Your videos of your previous visit to eastern Turkey I discovered your channel and you won me over to follow you. At that time you showed such a beautiful and friendly place, it is heartbreaking to now see Antakya in ruins.
I was a little agitated as my son was sharing some fears. But when I switched to hear LittleChinaEverywhere, her voice soothed me. Maybe this is why I do always get rewarded to watch her episodes.
Thank you for this amazing journey
My friend. You guys can visit my father's hometown. Düzce. Düzce has a street called "Silk Road Road" "İpek Yolu Sokak". Before Silk Road was passing by that road. That's why they gave it that name. İf you ever go there ask for "Çakman" family. Our family name is famous around Düzce Center.
Their sweets are dreamy. I would go there just for that! 😅
I notice the kitchen in the container is so clean and neat.
So much destruction but spirit is so resilient.
Tnank you for your amazing videos.
Thank you for a beautiful season 🇰🇪
Dear Yan & Flo, every episode of your Silk Road journey is totally amazing & I have utmost respect & appreciation for the work both of you did to showcase each city's hospitality on the Silk Road. Seeing these unique countries through your eyes & learning about the different cultures & food helped me understand a little about their cultures. I look forward to watching the next vlog. Have a good rest. Love from Singapore.
🤩🤩🤩🤠😎
It has been 3–4 years, and people are still living in containers. Workers keep saying everything will be completed within two months, but there has been no real progress
What an amazing journey! Thank you, Yan and Flo, for bringing us through all these different cultures, especially through those that we only hear about in the news. We shall be anticipating the next adventure!
You do not understand the situation and what they explained to you
What government has done is new houses somewhere else to move people in they start redorying the old heart of each city
I remind you that earthquake hits 11 states and more than 9600 twon and villages
Welcome to Türkiye
💫✌👍🙏🙏👏👏👏
You must not say Arab influences because Syria Lebanon Iraq historically are not Arabs they arabized
Because if you go to golf countries you don't find homs and those food as part of their cultures and cuisine
Very interesting. Thank you.
I am from Hatay. I am very happy that you have come to our country😊
Thank yan and Flo for a fantastic series of videos bring me to places I will never see , the food and craftsmanship of the people is so wonderful and beautiful.
The people are friendly and generous and seem pleased to see you , I believe most ordinary people around the world are all the same we all want the same thing a roof over our heads food in our stomachs and peace and happiness it's the politicians who make War for profit .
Blessings to all cities and people along the Silk Road may you all have peace and happiness in your lives . Love from Pembrokeshire West wales UK
Thank you to both of you for these wonderful videos bless you both
Nice video 🤗 thanks from Antakya ✨
❤❤❤
HATAY'DA YAPILANYENİ BİNALARI GÖREMEDİK….KOSKOCA BİR ŞEHİR GÜVENLİ ZEMİNLERDE YENİDEN İNŞA EDİLDİ…..
Three years after the earthquakes the workers think in further 2 month the reconstruction will be done. Also so many building still showing damage – that makes me angry
The president said everyone would have new homes in a year, but it's been 3 years and the process is still going on.
Thanks YanFlo 🪷
Thank you so very much for this epic series 😊🙏💖💕💖💕 Many good wishes and blessings .
Looking forward to future programs .
Congratulations on an awesome season. Thank you.
The resilience of the community after the earthquake is impressive. Also shockingly impressive is watching the baker take the metal pan of cooked meat patties out of the oven with his bare hands!! WOW! Istanbul is beautiful. Thank you for your season 3 taking us along the Ancient Silk Road. I have learned so much and have gained an appreciation of the people living along it. Foods, craftsmanship, hospitality, and joy radiate from so many countries. I look forward to finding out what your next path will be to take us along with you.
What happen this place sister… War or nature disaster…
Beautiful series, sad to see it end but I know the next season will be great too. I learned so much.
NIHAO Yan and Flo: I thoroughly enjoyed every episode of the SILK ROAD ADVENTURE. You are both amazing tour guides specially Yan, love your knowledge and expertise, but also your enthusiasm in speaking with people of all countries, whom are anxious and eagerly to educate those of us who are on the other side of the world and will probably never have the opportunity to visit. As I have mentioned before; you are the window that opens to this amazing view of the world we live in. So sorry about the devastation of Antakya, those men with a heart of gold will rebuilt the city however long it takes. The food you showed us looked "delicious" made with pride and joy. Craftsmen still following tradition that should never be lost. Super interesting, thank you . ZAI JIAN péngyóu (good bye friend) somewhere in Texas USA 😊💖
Turkey has always have a special place in my heart as I worked in their foreign embassy and travelled quite extensively in Turkey.
Its indeed sad to see the devastation caused by the earthquake to a once historical and beautiful city like Antakya. Hope the restoration will be completed soon and the displaced citizens can return home.
Thank you Yan and Flo for bringing us there. Once again, you are the lense to our world.
Watching another YouTube (Backpacker Ben) saying their WeChat in China is not working. They have to give cash which locals dislike taking. Can you comment? Think some problem with Alipay also.
thank you. for traveling. i'm in awe.😎
wonderful.😎
