Historic Gundaroo and Collector, driving tour of two small villages near Canberra

The towns of Gundaroo and Collector are two small towns nearby Canberra in New South Wales.

Gundaroo is special in that Cork Street, it’s main street has retained the look and charm of the 19th century. They’re making sure that the main street keeps its character as the rest of the town slowly grows and matures around it.

When we’re done looking at Gundaroo, we’ll take the “Marked Tree Road” route over to the town of Collector.

Collector used to be a thriving town, it made it’s income as a rest stop town for those who were taking the Federal Highway between Sydney and Canberra. However when the highway bypassed the town in 1988 the has since struggled.

The Bushranger Hotel in Collector is also the scene of an infamous incident involving the death of a police constable.
