🏛️ *ABOUT ARLES*
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Arles was founded by the Greeks around the 6th century BC and became
one of the most important cities in the Roman Empire. The amphitheatre,
built around 90 AD, seated 20,000 spectators and is still used today.
Vincent van Gogh spent 15 months here in 1888–89, his most prolific
period, producing over 300 works. The Place du Forum he immortalized
in Café Terrace at Night is visited at 2:08:08. Arles was designated
a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981.
