HOKKAIDO CAMPERVAN VLOG: Royce Chocolate Factory & Furano Adventure! 🚐🇯🇵 (Part 4)
Our Hokkaido campervan road trip continues! In Part 4 of our June holiday series, we head from our overnight stop at a Lawson car park [00:14] to explore the best of Furano and the world-famous Royce Chocolate Factory. If you’re traveling to Japan with kids, these are the must-visit spots in Hokkaido!
🍫 ROYCE’ CACAO & CHOCOLATE TOWN (FUTOMI):
The Factory Tour: We arrived at 9:30 AM just before the 10:00 AM tour started. It’s a massive, high-tech facility where you can see the chocolate-making process [05:06].
Interactive Games: This place is perfect for kids! There are tons of digital games, from chocolate-catching challenges to design-your-own-packet stations [10:05].
DIY Chocolate Lab: We spent time decorating our very own Royce chocolate bars with custom toppings—a great hands-on experience! [12:38]
Antique Museum: Don’t miss the collection of vintage chocolate memorabilia and antiques located right inside [17:08].
🚜 FURANO & FARM TOMITA:
Farm Tomita: Even in mid-June, the flower fields are starting to bloom! We arrived at 8:50 AM to beat the massive tour bus crowds [25:46].
Ningle Terrace: We visited this magical fairy-tale village at night. Pro-tip: Check the closing times locally, as they can differ from what’s online! [24:19]
Prince Hotel Onsen: After a day of driving, we stopped here for a relaxing soak—a perfect campervan lifestyle hack [24:13].
🎏 LOCAL GEMS & PLAYGROUNDS:
Seafood Market: We found a quiet, local seafood market right next to our overnight spot. Fresh scallops and sashimi for breakfast? Yes, please! [00:34]
Giant Pyramid Playground: We explored a massive indoor/outdoor playground for 500 Yen. It features a 5-story climbing structure and high-altitude slides [21:08].
The “Cotton Snow”: If you’re visiting in June, look out for the beautiful white cotton bits flying from the trees—it looks like summer snow! [03:58]
💡 CAMPERVAN TIPS:
Where to Sleep: Lawson and FamilyMart car parks are great because they have 24/7 food and clean toilets [00:26].
Beating the Crowds: Arrive at popular spots like Royce and Farm Tomita before 9:00 AM to enjoy the experience without the tour groups [19:12].
