  1. Have you visited the Yorkshire Dales before?
Which of these places is your favourite — and is there somewhere you think should have made the list?

  2. Great to see you back. Another great video. I'm from Yorkshire and never go out to the dales. Was out there all the time back in the day.

  3. Do NOT visit Malham or Bolton Abbey on a summer weekend – they become "tourist hell". Visit midweek when they're quiet and you can enjoy the beauty without the crowds.
DO buy an ice cream in Burnsall, it might be the best you've ever tasted ! Then walk along the river, on the path that goes past the Red Lion. The surface is really good so it's easy walking and you'll see all kinds of wildlife. Don't walk along the river on the opposite bank to the village – there's a charge just for being there !
Grassington is often busy, especially at weekends, but it's worth visiting for the shops and places to eat. A short walk takes you to Linton Falls, but I also recommend turning left after crossing the river and visiting Linton church in its beautiful setting.
A last recommendation is don't go into the Dales without plenty of fuel – there are filling stations dotted around the outer edge but in the heart of the Dales there are none !

  4. I was born in ilkley West Yorkshire this too is a very nice town the gateway to the dales where you start the dales way walk! Also salteire is lovely quaint town too

  5. Ingleton waterfall trail us great. Tip. When you get to the big waterfall dont complete the circuit. There's nothing really to see. Turn round and walk back

  6. A decent review of the Southern portion of the Yorkshire Dales. However….

    Dent
    Sedbergh
    Hawes
    Buttertubs Pass
    Littondale villages
    Reeth
    Keld
    Mallerstang valley
    Horton-In-Ribblesdale
    Askrigg
    Thwaite
    Kirby Stephen
    ….are all major omissions.

  7. Thank you, great summary. Hubby and I walked the coast to coast a few years ago and LOVED walking through the dales on this path. Planning on coming back in November (if we can afford to? due to the now war induced inflated airfares from Australia) I believe we can’t walk the Dales way in November (we like to book with luggage transfers agencies which end in October) But would like to do as many day walks as we can based on your recommendations here. Where would you suggest to stay, for about 10 days. I do like shops to browse through too 😊 as I love English countryside shops ( in my opinion the best in the world) we live in the countryside in Australia and don’t get out much 😂

  8. Ilkley, Ilkley moor & pateley bridge (and Nidderdale, where pateley bridge sits) are not in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Nidderdale, while a dale in Yorkshire, lies outside the national park boundary but is listed as an “Area of outstanding natural beauty”, not sure about Ilkley moor

  9. As a Malham resident please come and enjoy the wonderful Cove, Gordale scar and Janets Foss, but please take all the littler you leave home with you, Thanks.
