HAT Sanremo-Sestriere 2025 con le Yamaha Ténéré 700
How wonderful Sanremo is with this blue sea. And there it is, the HAT village where the HardAlpiTour will start tomorrow. All right. Bye, good work. But it’s melting away. We’re preparing the registration paperwork. We’re signing up. for each refreshment point. Oh, the stickers to stick on the windshield in a centered position, so it’s visible to us, and the bracelet to wear at all times. Luca, I’ll vouch for them. Don’t film. You don’t need to charge it overnight because it has a power bank. Tomorrow the HAT starts from Sanremo to Sestriere. I’m here with Miriam and Marta, the Yamaha Girl Full Power team , and the whole team will be using Cardo’s Pack Talk Edge system. Now we’ll connect them with, thanks to Mesh technology that allows up to 15 riders to connect with Cardo. Now that we’re connected, we’ll be able to chat. Chat, and whoever is first among us will notify the rest of the group on, also for safety reasons. I also use the intercom a lot when I travel because at least the first one warns of possible dangers, so at least you know what to expect. And the last one can say, “I fell, come get me, stop.” Francesca, the traveler who had this great idea, you put this team together, right? Right. Yamaha, you told me, “Let’s create a team, an all-female team to participate in the Hardalpitour Sanremo Sestriere.” I published a post describing this opportunity and I received 80 applications, and I only had to choose two. And the end result is that you have before you three completely different women. We have Miria with incredible experience in African rallies. I’m so happy you’re here. She’s Miria Amadori, and she’s Marta De Giovanni, very young and trained in motocross. You are a Yamaha team. We have a sponsor for you. We have Franco Picco. Franco Picco with us. Well done, Grandpa Picco. Oh, we’re reliving old loves, so you never forget your first love. Today’s news is that Franco has returned to Yamaha after many, many years. A round of applause for the first one , 4 more seconds, 3 seconds, see you in Sestriere . Our HAT together is about to start. We’re already tired. Girl, full power! It’s so hot. We need some power. Power. We’ll get it along the way. Here we go, here we go. We’re about to leave. Let’s go. We’re pumped. You’ll fix it! Thanks Max for the encouragement. Ready! The team of those who don’t touch. Just got back from India, we’re off straight away for the Sanremo Sestriere. Have a good ride, Franci . Thank you so much. Thank you so much. Can you wish me good luck? Lieutenant. Good luck. Lieutenant. Captain. I’m going there. You’re the first to leave. Shall I go there? No, they’ll tell you. Ah, they’ll tell me. So, first to leave, Francesca D’Alonzo, a spectacular team for Yamaha. Look at the beautiful girls they’ve hired and off we go. Here we go. 2 minutes. Francesca. Hi. Francesca D’Alonzo here with us at the start. Francesca returned from Ladakh, India, the day before yesterday; she’s a great traveler. Now we’re off with her sweetheart who’s taken me all over the world. I have a fantastic team; I’m so happy and so grateful to have such incredible women with me. There are 20 girls, 20 women, doing the Sanremo Sestriere this year. We’re all ready! Go! Go! First transfer on asphalt, towards Pigna. And the first one’s done. It’s rough sand. Wait, let’s make it three . Oh, this little sand is nice. There are some nice stretches. How beautiful! There are 500 of us, about 500 participants, 20 of whom are women, and among those 20, you see 3 of them here. We’re almost in Pigna. Bye bye bye. Oh, how beautiful! Let’s enter the village. This is the first refreshment point of the HAT Sanremo Sestriere in Pigna. I met this girl in the UK, how’s it going? Good! I wasn’t expecting the food so soon, but I’m not complaining! Look! All energy! Carbohydrates! Franco Picco is with us too. Well, a place like this is spectacular. We’re finally doing something together, I mean, here we are with the Dakar riders. Exactly. The Count is over there, though. Sorry. He, he, he is like that, you know? He moves in the shadows. Cesare moves in the shadows. We are 20 women. So, I mean, introduce yourselves. Nevena. What do you ride? Husqvarna 350. You? I’m Elena and I’m with the guys from moto.it and we ride Triumphs. Are you having fun? Yes, a lot. Great team of women who eat. Name and what do you ride? Francesca BMW 900, Marta and I have a Triumph Scrambler 400 XC Triumph. We already know you. Alright. First impressions of how things are going. How did it start? How did this HAT start? Well, we’re eating and drinking in the meantime, which is good. This Pigna restaurant is very beautiful. The thing I appreciate most is the food, as always. Plenty. How? How’s it going? How’s it going? Everything’s okay? Good. Very good. Excellent. Except for the first deckchair. We’re… Oh, yes, that’s true, that’s true, that’s true. Did you christen it today? Yes, today. I think we’re good for the whole day. Exactly. I think , maybe for tomorrow too. Maybe for tomorrow too. Let’s hope so, since I’m not usually one for getting off the ground, but it happens, it happens, come on. It’s part of off-roading. Anyway, it’s very tough terrain with these Ligurian rocks. Exactly. Well, unfortunately I know it well. And that’s it, that’s all I took this break for. Now let’s get back on track and move on. Here we go again. Bye Pigna. It was a wonderful welcome. There’s a variety of local food and wine products for 1 night that we needed to recharge our batteries, and we were welcomed with a band, with music, and it’s all of us experiencing this adventure together. Beautiful. Ready? We’re pumped to go again. We’re climbing up Colle Melosa. Come on, Tenerella. Plus, this bike has a lot of torque, it pushes really high up, uphill. It’s very much a rail, the ténéré gives stability if you don’t do anything stupid like I often do. Ah, we’ve reached the refuge. For those of you watching this video, you have to go to Realdo, which is a village perched on a rock. Marta is telling me about it. She’s from the area, and then she goes to the witch town of Triora. They have a big party at Halloween. Legend has it that the women of this town used and created potions to cure the locals, the people of the town. Oh, yes, that one over there. So there are still women who use the same herbs and make these potions. This is the Garezzo tunnel. It’s true you said it’s slippery. It really smells of mountain pastures, cows. There, you understand? I was trying to be romantic. Miria, “it smells like shit,” go on, Tenerella. I’m always talking to my bike, mostly. Now I’m even holding back. Here we’re going down towards Piedmont, we’re still in Liguria. Bye. Bye Franco. Who’s better off than you? You! You’re better off than me. I love these endless meadows. This is Ma’s refreshment point. Do you want to stop or shall we keep going? We’ll stop for a minute, two minutes, have a drink, eat something. We stopped at another rest stop in Montegrosso Pian Latte. We ate a little, just to keep our stomachs full. We drank a little. We’re trying not to stay too long, not to stop too much, but to maintain a good pace because the road is long. We’re almost halfway there, 106 km of the 260 km to go until Boves, until this evening’s stop. Having the intercom helps a lot in these situations, between car, danger, van, bike, and the gravel on the asphalt. Here we are at Forte di Nava. Here we are on Monte Nava. The ténéré is soft from this point of view, it doesn’t tear your arms, it’s not abrupt. Here we are about to enter Ormea. Ah, this colonnade is beautiful. Most Ligurians have their homes here in the cool, near the river. Ciao. Difficult and two-way. All normal. Thanks . What a crazy bike. Of course, if you have long legs. This is perhaps the toughest part of today. It was. The mud is driving me crazy. I can’t understand. Oh, there’s water too. It’s 4:10, girls. The mood is still high. We’ve done 180 km so far and we still have about 70 to go. How can you fall? You fall like a fool on this bike so often. It’s a real pain. The first piece that needs to be lifted happens, and it’s the worst. There are guys of all nationalities, there are 500 of us and they come from all over Europe. The furthest ones are from Norway. How are you, Tibetan, eh? Good luck to you all. Perfect. It’s all very rocky around here. Oh, amazing. Then there’s the light filtering through. 200 km done, eh, how do you feel? Total ecstasy. This is the Frabosa refreshment point. We’re in Fabrosa. Okay. We’re in Frabosa Soriana. No. Oh, I can’t do it. Wait, I’ll say it again. We’re in Frabosa. Soprana. Soprana. No, but you do incredible things in terms of making yourself stupid. Then you can’t even pronounce the names of the villages. My brain goes blank. Okay. After 208 km, gas. Anyway, the gas stations are signposted along the route, the tank is very full. We’re in Prato Nevoso. No, okay, guys, but it’s beautiful. Ah, cute. Amazing. Do you see the cows over there? What a view! But it’s a crazy slope. We’re climbing up a ski slope. I can’t see anything. There you have to turn around. Marta, okay, huh? Okay. Oh, you can’t see anything. Uh, she fell, she fell. There you go, guys, I did it. Like an idiot. Thanks. Oh, wonderful, the sun is setting now. We’re in Boves. Feel the stadium cheering. Your number one family. Oh, Francesca, come on too, come on. Yes, indeed. Come on, we did it. We did it. Are you happy? Yes. We all managed to fall, all three of us. Always standing still! Do you regret saying yes to this adventure? No, absolutely not. A great adventure. Beautiful. And we’re halfway there. And we’re halfway there. Tomorrow we start again. Everything’s fine, beautiful, happy? Yes, very happy. The only woman who participated in the master challenge. Yes, this is such a bad idea. How’s it going? I saw her leave last night at 10:30 pm . She’s very well prepared. We know she’s a good driver. 24 hours later, you arrived. Oh, exactly, I’m here now, ready to eat. I can’t do it. I slept an hour and a half. Did you sleep? An hour and a half when we actually stopped. What time was that? 5:00. Let me see the mat. Here, turn it over. Did you sleep like that? Yes. Jader. We had dinner and now we’re going to the Boves fruit and vegetable market for Scusami, look how it falls. Look how I don’t touch it. Now let’s go to sleep, if anything we’ll sleep at the market which is 800 meters from this beautiful place where we had dinner. Are you going to the dormitory? Yes, yes, yes, to the market. And that was Maurizio Gerini. It’s crazy. At an event like that you find yourself shoulder to shoulder with some really great people. Wake up call tomorrow morning, what time? Eh, we have to evaluate around dawn, before dawn. What a trio. Eh, eh, look, there was exceptional teamwork, truly magnificent. Look, I saw Miria happy, so that’s a rare thing. Magnificent. Look, it was magnificent today. I don’t know how you did it, look. I’m so happy. I’m so happy. It was really beautiful, full of challenges, fun. So, this is how it works here: the girls make do, set up tents, sleep in tents. They wake up at 5, set off again, and the four men in tow—no way, they go to the hotel. Damn, it’s tough here. It’s fake grass, this stuff is tough. We’re at the Boves fruit and vegetable market, the place where anyone who wants can sleep, camp out. At the end of the first day of the HAT Sanremo Sestriere. Here are the motorcycles. Some people simply sleep on the ground, in their sleeping bags next to their motorcycles, and we had a choice: sleep in the hotel or sleep in a tent? But I decided to sleep in a tent, dragging the girls along. And so we set up our tents next to the motorcycles. Look what a job he’s done, eh? And day one is over. Goodnight. Good morning from the Boves covered market. By now, as you can see behind me, there are very few of us left. We packed up the tents, we slept very little because all night, all night there was a constant coming and going of people. Good morning. People talking. Yes, I had some neighbors, it was interesting. We learned, we found out what they eat for breakfast and everything at 3:00 in the morning, but everything was fine. Between 3 and 5/6. Come on, good, come on. Here. Yes, yes. You didn’t sleep well. Yes, yes. No, I rested, come on. Definitely, definitely. And now we have the 260 km of day 2 ahead of us. Thanks for picking up the assistance from Tom 42 here, Yamaha partner who picked up all our luggage and tents. See you in Sestriere or on the road? I’m hoping for Sestriere. Sure, if you see us first. You’re right, there’s a problem. And on day 2, dawn begins to our right. Yes, and navigating on a tablet is very convenient; it’s a nice, large surface, better than a cell phone. I’m very happy with it. We even have speed limits, so we can finally fill up. Drinking water stations are marked along the route. We filled our water bladders. Look how wonderful this little village is. The Michelin Anakee Wild tires, which I already used last year for the trip from Italy to Afghanistan in Central Asia, are proving to be exceptional tires, even on very technical sections with loose rocks and some slippery undergrowth. Excellent tires, in my opinion, for such diverse terrain as those encountered at the HAT Classic. Remember, I’m 1.70m tall, you, Miriam, are 1.67m, and Marta, 1.65m. And it’s beautiful here, what a beautiful bike. Ah, it’s German. Yes. Bye. We’ve had our breakfast and we’re ready to go again. Anyway, what I like about this bike is that you can do, you know, 700 km of highway, 700 km of highway transfer, you go, you’re calm, comfortable and then it also does things like that. I mean, obviously you have some compromises, as Miria says, the weight drops, a whole series of problems, but you can also do a bit of everything. Bye. Here the only tricky thing is that you thunder over the drains. What kind of race is this? Eh, how far are we, Miria? Here, we’re at 1370 m. At, at. Okay. Okay. And did you see how it updated when we turned on the intercoms right away? And this morning I heard, like, I think Marta and I connected first and then you got there, Miria, and you joined the group without us doing anything independently. Yesterday it didn’t give me a low battery warning, it lasted all day. Also, the fast charging feature. Another nice thing about this intercom is the base, which I actually have to have sent. You also asked if you have two helmets, just move the base and, wow, you can remove it. Magnetic attachment, you attach, attach, attach, and detach. I’ve always had one, that is, each helmet has its own intercom. I don’t mind the noise cancellation as it removes background noise. Hi. Oh, how cute. Look at all of them. Madonna, I’m so hungry. Now that I smelled this, it triggered a memory. The memory of eating a real meal while sitting down. Hey, you threw a stone at me. How beautiful. We’ve arrived at the Pomaretto refreshment point. So we’re almost 200 km in. Mirco, we should have… Who remembers Mirco Gibralter Race? I take off my glasses and the hat they told me before— with the hat and glasses—looks like a serial killer. And without a bike, you wouldn’t recognize him. Let’s go get some food. We managed to grab something to eat at 1:30 at the last refreshment point of this Sanremo Sestriere. And now we have a transfer via a section of the Colle delle Finestrelle, the wonderful Assietta that I haven’t done in three years, and straight to Sestriere. Hi. This is Marta’s guy. How beautiful! So, here we are climbing the Colle delle Finestrelle. The last 50 km. We’re at 1800 m. We’re on the Assietta. Our last effort for today. Thrilling. Beautiful. These are the military forts. The last 30 km. Come on, so beautiful you can even see the lake below. Madonna, I just looked down. Miria, don’t look down. Thanks. You’re white. I don’t know what I look like. Dusty? Come here. Look. Miria. Come too. Take off your helmet. 2424 m altitude. A landscape of atrocious beauty. Do we have any dusty faces? We’re almost at the end. We’re almost there. Final thoughts, almost final. Oh, unfortunately we have to go home. Well, exactly. We’d continue for a few more days. Yeah, we’ll continue, shall we start again? We’ll do it backwards! Exactly, exactly, backwards. So we’ll do the hairpin bends downhill. Come on, this is cool. I think they’ll let us through because Marta’s exhaust is scary. This one’s pending, as a grand finale, Assietta, they did a great job. We arrived at 3:40. Are you there? Look, I’m here. Okay, stop. I had so much fun. We’re all so sad. These incredible women I’ve had by my side. We already told Assietta to go to hell, but we made it. We made it. Yes, because she wanted to make the usual institutional video. I’m very proud to have been a member of your team, this wonderful team. We’re also very proud of Marta, we’re very proud that you chose us, I’m very proud of us and what we did. We had fun . Unfortunately, it’s over. Unfortunately, it’s over, but it’s really beautiful. Let’s return the transponder. Do you have anything to say? Eh eh. I’m over the moon. I can’t wait to have the certificate in my hands, squeeze it, and take it home. You did the whole track 100% 100%, one each, one head. Thank you, thank you so much. How would we have done this HAT without an intercom ? Oh, it helped us a lot, but poor ears! Giving an intercom that works perfectly to three women is extremely dangerous. Extremely dangerous, but it was essential for the entire two days. With the mesh, it connected easily and never disconnected. We got caught in a lot of dust and it remained perfect. It didn’t rain, but the Packtalk Edge is waterproof. IP67. Oh, we stayed awake this morning, we talked, we sang, we sang, and we even warned each other of all the dangers. Especially that, especially that. You who were there before warned us and I acted as a guide to explain cars and trucks and even the roads we knew; at least they were informed a little about my area since I know the roads quite well . And we didn’t have to shout, we kept each other company at an event like the HAT, this Cardo really helped us a lot and the team worked well! Beautiful, dirty and happy. So come on, tell me Francesca, I’ll tell you, this next year you have to do extreme, you have to train a bit, you have to stop just doing these trips to India, here looking for… What do you have to look for in India? Enough, start being a serious motorcyclist. Did you have fun? Yes, a lot. Tired, dirty. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. It’s a beautiful race in wonderful places, the perfect organization, views and then these places are wonderful. You have to be quiet at night when people are sleeping. Shh, hush. Here we were all sleeping at the camp, except maybe Iader. No, it was me with the bike because I had to work on it a bit. Every now and then I’d give the bike a little gas and wake you up. I know. You kept it on for 10 minutes. Yes, I heard. Yes, I heard you snogging, but that’s how it is. But it’s the Dakar atmosphere; at the Dakar you don’t sleep. Will we see you again at the Dakar? Yes, but as a navigator this year it’s a preview that I haven’t told anyone yet. You’re giving us an incredible preview. Exactly. I don’t even know why I told you this. Anyway, I’ll be a navigator. And with that, we’ll wrap things up. Here we are. We’re here with Charles. Wait, let’s take our hats off now that it’s all over, that we’re all still dirty, filthy, but happy and content that you put together this incredible adventure for 500 participants plus 60 staff. We’re truly happy that everything went so well and, above all, everyone had fun. Everyone was smiling hugely, and we even surprised everyone with a final refreshment stop, a first for Sestriere. I mean, you arrive after an adventure that lasted two incredibly intense days without even sleeping, and we found food and drink, and we all found ourselves dirty, filthy, but happy. It was beautiful. For me, it was like one of my trips, but with a safety net these days, knowing I could count on your support, your organization, and the security that whatever happened, you were there. You did an incredible job scouting the tracks, because the tracks are beautiful. I had so much fun. So if you’re thinking of doing this adventure too, I look forward to seeing you next year. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your participation. Thank you, thank you. You. I got eaten by midges. Crazy. I’m waiting, this girl is crazy. Virginia, Virginia. Virginia has finished the Master Challenge. The only woman, how many kilometers? 1000 km. 1000 km in 30 hours. Yeah, 40. There. 40. Oh no, yes, because she started well. We left on Friday at 10:30, asleep like a bat. Sorry, I’m getting bitten by midges. Yes, we’re attacked. I practically have a hornet’s nest for hair right now. Anyway, here we go. Would you do it again? Sure. Any advice for anyone who wants to, thinks about, considers taking on a challenge as important as this? It’s a major challenge. Advice: sleep and try to sleep on Friday, at least not like me, who didn’t even sleep on Friday. I arrived already tired on Friday evening, and there was a difficult moment? The morning of, well, this morning, and I don’t even know what day it is anymore. So it’s the morning of the second day. Morning of the second day. That’s why you’re still short on sleep, knowing you still have 500 km to do. You have less time to do them than the day before. Of course. So all dirt, the second part all dirt. Yes, among other things, you had a challenging course with the races, we had some crunchy sections. Crunchy, but fun. Those are the ones that keep you awake at the end. You’ll hear about her because this girl is really strong. You’ll hear about her soon on all the television channels. Exactly. Without any flies. Hello. Here we are in Sestriere. Introduce yourselves for those who don’t know you. I’m Nicola Poggio, I’m Giamba. So how did this edition go? 17th. 17th. I’ll speak. Go Nicola. But hey, if we say it went well like every time, it went well again, so we’re all happy. It went well again this year. I’ll just say, I’ll just add one thing. For me, today is December 31st because for me it’s New Year’s Eve, for me tomorrow is a celebration, eh, year zero. A year from tomorrow begins a new season because behind an experience that entertained 500 people, imagine 500 people on trails of extraordinary beauty through the beauty of all of Italy. Point point to the center. Look, look, look what happened today. But kissed by luck because it was sunny for three days straight. Three days straight, behind it there is a network that organizes the safety of all of us, everything, logistics, sustainability and allows us to return home with memories that will last a lifetime. Yes, a HAT is an experience you truly take with you and tomorrow begins HAT 2026. 2026, so see you next year. The day after tomorrow. From the day after tomorrow. Tomorrow a day of rest tomorrow. I have to go back to Friuli, I have 700 km to ride, you have another HAT to do, you guys are resting. Okay, thanks again, thanks Francesca. And if you’re thinking about it, you’re thinking about participating. Now I’ll leave you the link with all the HAT information in the description below. And we ‘ll see next year. Bye. We’re with WLP president Paolo Venezia, who is now explaining how to remove the tablet. I’ll explain to you how to remove it if you want to remove it. So, first, you insert this little key in here. Just turn it one click. Okay? What happens with one click? This pin goes up. Yes, that’s what allows us to remove it. Then you turn off the power. Okay. Yes. Pull this one back here, you detach the antenna because it has an external antenna connection. In this case I use a key, but if we close it by hand it closes just the same. 10 Obviously. There’s this connection for the antenna back here. Be careful, if you don’t put this antenna back here, it’ll do what it did yesterday: it won’t connect to satellites and therefore won’t see the maps. Then you take it out and take it with you. Turn it on and off, hold down the red button, then the message “off” appears, and to turn it off and on again, do the same thing the other way around. Perfect. If it’s dusty, brush it off with a paintbrush or throw it under water because it’s watertight. Now I’ll put it back on for you. See how you can put it back, you just stick it in like this and go ahead. Yes. Close this one. Okay. Once you see that it matches here, you’ll see that This one here? Yes. It means it’s closed. Press the pin here in front to lock it. There, that’s it. These are the steps to attach and detach it. Always remember, the antenna here seems difficult, but it actually isn’t. Once you have the antenna, how do you attach it? So once you see this? Yes. Nut. Do it with your fingers. Here. And you screw it in until you screw it all the way in. Okay. Okay. Done. You put this in here. You see, it goes in. But only when you use it, because otherwise it will drain your battery. Since this would have been the case if you had a smart auto electrician at home, you have him put a switch underneath here, so you can turn it on and off. Sure. But in this case, if you have your switch that turns it off, in this case, since there’s no switch, you unplug this one because if it goes to charge when you’re stopped, you risk draining your battery. Sure. Thanks a lot, Paolo. Thank you. Thanks for letting me navigate so well and allowing me to arrive. Have a good Swank. I don’t know if I’ll be able to come and say hello at the start. If I can, we’ll see each other there in a different way. Have fun. Bye. So, this HAT is over too. I’m not going back to Friuli today, which is 700 km, but I’ll do it all tomorrow and today I’m sleeping in Sestriere. I can’t wait to take a shower because after two days I can’t take it anymore. I stink, but I’m full of energy, I’m full of adrenaline, I’m very happy, very proud of my team. What a great adventure this HAT is. 17° here, in Sestriere we’re high. Now I’m on my way to the hotel. All right, I’ll say goodbye to you later. They’re really beautiful. Plus, the color is gorgeous. You’re welcome. Bye girls. These are two other girls who participated with the moto.it team on some really cute Triumph 400 scramblers. Look at the wonderful view leaving Sestriere. So, as I slowly drive through the villages full of speed checks, I’ll tell you that I decided to use the WLP tablet for navigation. I’ve been very happy with it. This mount is stable, it’s rigid, and it’s made of 4K special parts. This mount, without a key, you can’t even remove the tablet; you can’t move it. So even last night, when I left my motorcycle parked outside in the hotel parking lot, I left it here without any problems. Now, as you can see, the tablet must be running low because it’s not charging, but all you have to do is put it here, plug in the cable, and since it’s connected directly to the battery, it charges very quickly, it charges immediately. In fact, I’ve never had any battery problems. Oh, the navigation is fast, very fast, from curve to curve, from hairpin bend to hairpin bend. I don’t know what I’d do without this heated Mosko Moto jacket because it’s 16°C in Sestriere. Today I ‘m feeling a bit sore, a bit in my back, arms, hands, and lower left back—a sharp pain, but I didn’t take anything, I didn’t take any painkillers, nothing. It’ll pass. It means I worked well. There’s no such thing as a total motorcycle, but the Ténéré for me is something very close to one, because if you think about it, well, with this bike I’ve traveled wherever I wanted, in every condition, on every terrain, even on long distances. I got this bike three days ago, I drove 700 km from Friuli on the highway, I got here, I’ve done almost 600, of which over 60% were off-road, some very technical parts with very loose rocks, very very rough terrain. Um, and now I’ve loaded it up with luggage and I’m going for another 700 to get home. That’s the Ténéré: it’s a bike you can do everything with. Everything. Sure, you might not have the comforts of higher-horsepower, more powerful, or more comfortable bikes. For me, the only discomfort is actually the seat, but I solved that with this SW Motech Traveler cushion, purchased from their website. It’s an inflatable cushion with a honeycomb texture, and I inflated it halfway, and it’s really comfortable for me. I find it truly comfortable and the best solution. Not even the gel seat was that comfortable. The tires I chose for this adventure are the Micheline Anakee Wild, tires I had already tested on my trip over very rough terrain in Afghanistan last year and throughout Central Asia. I’m going back home, so I’ve already had the chance to test them both off-road and on the road. They’re a perfect compromise too. They held up very well during these two days of the HAT on every type of terrain we encountered. Sure, they’re not the knobby, claw-like tires, but I also have 1,400 km of road to go home, so I wasn’t looking for claw-like tires, and if you think about it, I actually built the HAT myself, meaning: I transported everything I needed for the HAT on the bike. Um, of course, we had the impeccable assistance of Yamaha’s technical partner Tom 42, who brought us the tents—that is, he simply took them back to the market where we slept and then came back to pick them up. The HAT organization also offers a luggage transport service. Apart from that, I leave home and return home on this bike alone. I didn’t need a van, I didn’t need a trailer, of course. I needed my desire to ride, but that’s never lacking, you know. For me, the motorbike is a holiday, for me, the motorbike is always joy and happiness.
