Yong Jie (IG: jieeeee_tan) and Shi Hui (IG: canice_ng0817) are with us again today. Our first itinerary today was a half-day tour of the Cu Chi Tunnels. We’ll visit the Cu Chi Tunnels to see some of the tunnels from the Viet Cong War era and learn about history. We’ll also get to practice shooting with real guns there, which I’m quite looking forward to. Now, let’s wait for our half-day Cu Chi Tunnels tour guide to pick us up before we head out. *The tour guide calls out our names and says, “He ‘s here to pick us up! ” *Yes, our half-day Cu Chi Tunnels tour guide has come to pick us up! Let’s go! *The drive from the city center to the Cu Chi Tunnels takes about two hours, making it a good half-day trip. *Although the journey takes about two hours, I’m filled with anticipation at the thought of stepping into the war ruins. *Tour Guide: Quickly become the boom target, drop so much boom in Cu Chi, so many peoples die Tour Guide: They want to be survive to fight the American until the end, they have one choice Tour Guide: Digging the tunnel underground Tourist: Ya Tour Guide: They hide underground, they hide in the tunnel, they can survive Tour Guide: Then 19th century, French from Europe attack Vietnam Tour Guide: French attack Vietnam, they have machine gun, they have aircraft, they have the tank, we have the bamboo only, how we fight Tour Guide: We fight them with bamboo. They have machine guns and can shoot at us from a distance. Tour Guide: we fight them by bamboo, they have machine guns, from far already shoot us Tour Guide: ok, But Vietnam still raise up army to fight French, to protect the country Tour Guide: Obama, Donald Trump, they very very respect Vietnamese history until now Now we haven’t arrived at the Cu Chi Tunnels yet *This is the first stop of the half day tour* Now let’s take a look at the handicrafts. These handicrafts are made by those who survived the Viet Cong era. They may have some disabilities, so they make a living by doing this* Location: Lamphat Company Handicapped Handicrafts* *Behind each piece is a story of struggle and hope* *This is not an ordinary handicraft, but a dream woven with strength and hope* Staff: The material of this handicraft is very good. It will not break even if it falls to the ground * The warmth of handicrafts touches people’s hearts and adds meaning to life* *A gentle handmade work, a touching journey* Sister Canice just spent about 1,500,000 Vietnamese Dong to buy a very beautiful storage box to support them. It’s very kind*I hope that Sister Canice’s support will be the source of strength for them to continue creating* After a two-hour journey, we arrived at the Cu Chi Tunnels*Location: Cu Chi Tunnels* *The reception in the Cu Chi Tunnels is not very good, so please turn down the volume* *Location: Cu Chi Tunnels* *The reception in the Cu Chi Tunnels is not very good, so please turn down the volume* *The reception in the Cu Chi Tunnels is not very good, so please turn down the volume* *The person just told us that we can take similar photos in the tunnels later. Now we are going to enter the Cu Chi Tunnels. Okay, thank you*Only after walking through Cu Chi do you understand what a true “underground hero” is* *This is the miracle of the Vietnam War – the Cu Chi Tunnels, which is more than 250 kilometers long and goes three levels underground* *Imagine, this tunnel entrance is only the size of a small backpack, but it can hide an adult* *The tunnel entrance is covered with leaves, so if you walk past it carelessly, you might not even notice it* *Isn’t it amazing? There was only one person when we went in, but there were actually three when we came out, haha* *This retired tank is a war relic left by the US military during the Vietnam War* *Men were mainly responsible for participating in frontal combat, exchanging fire with the US or South Vietnamese troops* Tour Guide: Women wear black colour because she got duty and mission at night *Wearing black clothes (not easy to be seen), they shuttled between villages and tunnels under the cover of night, delivering documents and messages* Tour Guide: Midnight, in the tunnel, the leader write information on a paper, Then she will be responsible for deliver *Wearing black clothes (not easy to be seen), they shuttled between villages and tunnels under the cover of night, delivering documents and messages* *Some traps look like ordinary holes in the ground, but they are actually covered with sharp bamboo sticks underneath. Once you fall into them, it is almost impossible to escape* *Visiting the Cu Chi Tunnels and seeing these trap models with your own eyes is really chilling* *The land looks peaceful, but the moment you step on it you’ll find the gate to hell* Now we’re at the live-fire shooting experience. We’re going to buy bullets, and then we’ll go shoot with real guns* Sorry, the reception here isn’t very good, please turn down the volume* This is the price per bullet. Everyone needs to buy at least 10 bullets. I bought AK47 bullets, and the price of 10 bullets is 650,000 Vietnamese Dong, which is equivalent to more than 100 Malaysian ringgits * Nervous, excited, and focused, we’re no longer spectators, but participants* The soundproofing is pretty good, now we’re going to play with AK47. Let’s go, ten AK47 bullets, here we go * The moment the live ammunition is loaded, the air becomes tense* *Only after feeling the muzzle recoil did I understand that I have to hold on every second on the battlefield* The AK47 shooting experience just now was quite good. The last shot also hit the bull’s eye. It feels like the position of this gun is a little higher* The gun is fixed in position and cannot be moved at will* Otherwise, my hit rate when playing paintball is quite accurate * The weapons manufacturing room is hidden underground, and the soldiers build a counterattack force in the dark* The dummies and props here are made very carefully. After pressing the button, the dummy actually moved, and the dummy behind it also moved* The tour guide is explaining enthusiastically* *Cooking is not a romantic art, but a repetitive and tiring physical work day and night* * They stand in front of the hot stove for hours, their backs already soaked with sweat* * The dim light at the entrance of the tunnel flickers, as if hesitating whether to uncover this unknown secret* *Entering the tunnel is like stepping into a piece of dusty history. The air is filled with the smell of old wars. * We just came down from here and now we are going to a deeper tunnel. *Every inch we go into the tunnel, it seems like we are getting closer to a history of resistance dug out with lives. * This tunnel is too narrow and cramped. We can only bend down or walk like a duck. Why: I feel it is more comfortable for me to walk like a duck in the tunnel. YJ: So tired. Why: We can see the exit. We are finally going out. YJ: My feet are sore . It is really tiring. *The tunnel is not long, but we walk very slowly because we are stepping on the weight of history. * Be careful, it is very slanted here . Why: Canice just came out from this exit. We came out from another exit. Otherwise, Canice would have helped us take a picture of us coming out of the tunnel. YJ: My feet are sore. This tree is amazing. It also provides water like a snake. It’s amazing. Why: Are these exhaust pipes? YJ: Yes, it turned out to be a smoke exhaust pipe. The tour guide said that when the US military saw smoke coming out of here, they would drop bombs here, but there were no casualties because this is not a kitchen. *The authentic kitchen is cleverly designed, using a long smoke duct to exhaust smoke to avoid being discovered by the enemy. *Now the tour guide is talking about how they used to cook. *The authentic kitchen is cleverly designed, using a long smoke duct to exhaust smoke to avoid being discovered by the enemy. * Then we should go there to experience what the soldiers ate during the war. *In the days when there was no oil, salt, sauce or vinegar, sweet potatoes and cassava became the simplest staple foods. *Eating is not just food, but also a belief in freedom. * YO~~~ *Vietnamese toast* *I thought it was just average, but I was pleasantly surprised* *Unexpectedly delicious! I totally underestimated it* Best of all, this is the end of our Cu Chi Tunnels Half Day Tour. We’re heading back to our hotel to rest, change, and continue our Vietnam journey . Okay, after getting some coffee, we arrived at Pizza 4P’s. YJ said we still had two minutes until our turn. *Location: Pizza 4P’s* *Eating pizza in Vietnam? Was it a complete disaster or a pleasant surprise? * *I walked in with the mentality of giving it a try, wondering if it would change my perception of pizza* The good one is the Housemade 3 cheese pizza and the Spicy Garlic Shrimp Pizza. You can see the very big cauliflower. Both pizzas are very good-looking. Why: What won’t lie? YJ: I won’t lie. *Cold joke time* Why: What won’t lie? Canice: I just told you. Why: The answer is pizza. Canice: Why? Because pizza has six slices, eight slices and not seven (cheating) . *Thanks for your support* Now let’s eat the cheese pizza. Canice: I think the cheese pizza here is something I have never tasted before. Why: Not bad. Canice: Very fragrant. Because I don’t eat cheese, so if it can get my praise, it means it is really delicious. Why: Generally speaking, the taste of cheese is not so obvious. YJ: Rich. Why: It tastes very good. YJ: The taste is very rich. Wow~ This is my first time eating Tom Yum flavored pizza. No wonder there are shrimps. Wow~ This is a bite. YJ: The pizza crust is very thin. Why: The pizza has a very thin crust , is very fragrant, and has a strong tom yam flavor. We wanted to go in earlier, but we couldn’t because it was too late or because someone was in service. *Location: Tân Định Catholic Church* So we went to Cong Coffee across from the church. I heard that you can take nice photos with the church from the second floor. If we have a chance later, we’ll turn the sky black. The pink church looks really beautiful at night . Now we’re going to go into the cafe and go up to the second floor to take a photo with the church to see if we can get a good photo. Now we’re on the second floor of the cafe to take a photo with the red church. It’s less crowded today. *Location: Cong Coffee* It’s 7pm, so the bells will ring. You can actually see the pink church here if you stand there and take photos (most tourists take photos there). It’s actually quite difficult to take a photo of the entire church. If you go to the area opposite the church to take photos, it’s not very convenient. So online, it’s recommended to take photos with the church on the second floor of this cafe. However, if you want to come up here, everyone must order a cup of coffee. *The exterior is Gothic in style, with Roman and Baroque elements, giving it a very layered feel. * Okay, so now we took a taxi here for dinner and authentic Vietnamese food. *Location: Bếp Cuốn Sài Gòn* It was quite funny when we first took the taxi. YJ scared the driver when he opened the driver’s door and was about to get in. *Because the driving position in Malaysia is different from that in Vietnam* *The location is convenient, close to the center of Saigon, perfect for a meal after shopping* *The interior is fresh and simple, with a relaxed atmosphere, perfect for gatherings with friends or casual dining* *YJ takes the orders after looking at the guide for each meal* YJ: Can you finish it? Why: Yes, Wow Authentic Vietnamese food . This is a seafood pancake with squid, shrimp, beef, and pork . The one next to it is the signature mixed platter. It looks really good. Now the waiter is here to teach us how to eat authentic Vietnamese food. The waiter is very good at preparing the sauce. *Lettuce, rice paper, pork, rice noodles, all rolled up in one roll, delicious! * The waiter is very skilled at wrapping it up. YJ: Thank you . Now let’s challenge myself to wrap a delicious radish pancake. Put a little squid in it. The yellow pancake inside is crispy and fragrant. Why: It tastes like braised meat. Canice: Yes, it tastes like braised meat . It’s very fragrant and chewy. Why: The filling inside. YJ: Very fresh and chewy. Why: Very nice. It’s really delicious. The last stop of the third day in Vietnam is here to buy souvenirs and local products. *Location: Ăn Vặt Chú Mạn* What is the deadline? *Location: Ăn Vặt Chú Mạn* Staff: 2 weeks to 1 month Why: These are the souvenirs I bought this month . There are 6 bags in total. I can’t buy too many because I successfully transferred to another school this time, and I need Canice to bring some back home for me. *This snack looks a bit like plastic* We just bought the souvenirs and came out. Today’s itinerary is a half-day history tour, followed by food, drinks, and some souvenir shopping. We were very satisfied with both restaurants today. Our third day in Ho Chi Minh City has ended. See you on day four. Bye everyone, it’s day four. Today is the morning of our last day, and now we’re here for breakfast. Crab roe and crab soup rice noodles. *Location: Bún riêu Gánh* Canice: I’ll take a picture to show you. The meat is really big. Canice: Look at that thing next to it, it must be pig’s blood, isn’t it? It’s scary. Why: Wow. Canice: Take a big bite. Why: It’s more fragrant and very similar to the minced meat steamed egg we have over there. It tastes more like our thicker noodles, which are chewy and delicious . Now that we’ve finished breakfast, we’re at Thai Bình Market behind me. It’s not as touristy as Bến Thành Market, but it’s where locals often go to buy groceries. Let’s go in and take a look. *Location: Thai Bình Market* *Feel the most authentic Saigon morning life rhythm* *Tourists love Bến Thành, locals love Thai Bình even more* *Feel the most authentic Saigon morning life rhythm* Good, this place is really like the Malaysian morning market. You can see that it is a little special. They squat and sit on the stalls to sell vegetables. If you like that kind of Vietnamese life, you can come here because the taste here is the same as the Malaysian morning market. It is not a tourist route. *Sorry, the background sound is full of morning market sounds* People who eat here also sit on these low chairs. People who sell and buy things squat down. *There is also a hidden Vietnamese food stall outside the market – Quang Nam noodles* *With peanuts, rice crackers, pork, shrimp… This bowl of noodles is a “family portrait” combination* I heard that this bowl is the famous Quang Nam noodles here. We only ordered one bowl because we had just eaten breakfast. It is very special. The noodles are golden yellow. *Foodie YJ comes to comment* How is YJ: The noodles were dipped in shrimp broth and had a shrimp broth flavor with a hint of mint and some minced pork. They were delicious. *Thanked the taxi driver* Okay, now we took the taxi to our next stop, the War Remnants Museum, to learn about the history of the war. *Location: War Remnants Museum* *Location: War Remnants Museum* *The quietest, yet noisiest corner of Ho Chi Minh City: it speaks loudly with history* We just came in from that side and saw a lot of fighter planes . This is the museum we’re going to enter. There are also tanks next to it. The tanks are really huge when you really see them * Every scene here makes your heart tighten. The cruelty of war is laid bare before you* *A museum is also a history lesson. The Vietnam War is not just a memory of Vietnam* These are various types of landmines. Soldiers usually use tanks to destroy landmines, so there is also an anti-tank mine here. This museum exhibition hall tells the truth about history, with weapons and the charts shown above * Comparing the three wars, the Vietnam War lasted the longest – a full 17 and a half years* *The most bombs dropped were not in World War II, but in the Vietnam War – a whopping 14,300,000 tons* *These numbers are not cold statistics, but the shattered memories of millions of families* *History is not used to glorify war, but to teach peace. May we remember the weight of these numbers, so that future generations will no longer have to bear them. * After leaving the museum, we saw these cages . This should be the guillotine. This is the first time I have seen a real guillotine. Just after leaving the museum, we went to see the cyan area behind us. There are some prisons and cages inside. I really want to tell everyone Love Peace, No War. Now we have arrived at Independence Palace. Wow~ *Location: Independence Palace* *Location: Independence Palace* Okay, so now we have bought tickets and entered the Presidential Palace, also known as the Reunification Palace. You can see the tank here. It is said that after the tank rushed in here, the North and South of Vietnam were unified.*A tank broke through the iron gate and opened a new chapter in Vietnamese history. The North and the South were no longer in confrontation, and there was only “Vietnam” left.* That’s the story. Now let’s go in and take a look. *This is not a palace, it is a symbol of a country’s transition from division to unity.* After entering here, you will see the information desk where you can rent tour guides. You can see that the staircase is very noble, but it’s a pity that we can’t use this staircase to go up. Here is an auditorium. Look at this big carpet. It’s beautiful. Through this information, we can know that this is the president’s reception room. The information also shows that the president sits in the middle to receive guests. Now let’s go into the private apartment. You can see that there is a yard here, which is very nice. And what’s in the bedroom? There is a bed and a cupboard in the bedroom. Now let everyone see the old projection room. It looks very difficult to operate. And below is the cinema. Okay, that was the screening room just now. This is the cinema. Outside, you can even see helicopters. It’s worthy of being the Presidential Palace and the Presidential Office . Oh my god, see? The Presidential Office. This is where the President works. Everyone, I’m in the First Lady’s reception room right now. It’s perfect for afternoon tea. Let me show you the kitchen on the ground floor of the Reunification Palace. It’s very large and there’s even a shooting range. *Let’s enjoy authentic Vietnamese food* *Location: Mẹ Ỉn Noodles* Egg Shrimp Fried Rice in Coconut. Coconut-flavored egg shrimp fried rice . And this is braised pork. And what is that? YJ: Vietnamese pancake with mushroom. Why: Vietnamese mushroom pancake. Wow~ This is our lunch today. Very Vietnamese style . The golden egg fried rice is sweet with a hint of coconut and a hint of shredded coconut . Take these leaves… These leaves are two colors too. Wow~ Sorry, I can’t see it . Put less filling and more pancakes to make it full. Then dip it in some sauce. This is more fragrant than last night, maybe because of the mint leaves. The shiny pork belly is very smooth~ *It’s very hot* Okay, after crossing the zebra crossing, we arrived at the Central Post Office. There are a lot of people taking pictures here. Why? Because there’s a statue here. Behind me is the Red Church. *Location: Notre Dame Cathedral of Saigon * In the second night of the previous video, we passed by this place when we took the Hop on Hop off bus, but it was unfortunately under renovation. *Location: Notre Dame Cathedral of Saigon * So now we will go inside the Central Post Office and take a look. Let’s go. Now as we get closer to the Central Post Office, we’ll find that the yellow building with the green window frames is really beautiful. *Location: Saigon Central Post Office* It’s a very classic French colonial architectural style. You can also see a clock on the gate. After entering the Central Post Office, we found that the whole building feels like an old train station, which is very nice. There’s also a portrait of Mr. Ho Chi Minh hanging on the wall. I heard that this was designed by Mr. Eiffel, who built the Eiffel Tower. It’s super nice. I see everyone writing postcards here. Everyone is ready to send their postcards back home. Why: I want to send them back to Malaysia. Staff: 23,000 Vietnamese Dong Why: 23,000 Vietnamese Dong Is there a stamp here? *Staff shook their head* Why: ok This is 23,000 Vietnamese Dong sent back to Malaysia. Is this how it should be written? Staff: Yes, that’s right. *The paper of the postcard is too thin to contain my longing for you, so I had to ask the postman to bring me a little more.* *Some people say that mailing is the most romantic way of waiting, so I will choose a letter and slowly fly back to you.* *I originally just wanted to take a photo, but I didn’t expect to take a photo of “fate” 📸🌍* *Checking in at the post office✔️Unexpectedly meeting an old friend✔️ The little surprises of travel are always inadvertent✨* *Meeting Dr. Liu from China by chance* Dr. Liu: Why does he look so familiar? Isn’t this the person I often see on Tik Tok? * Thanks to Dr. Liu’s help, I was able to successfully obtain my master’s degree.* Okay, now we move to the century-old Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Hall to take a look.* Location: Ho Chi Minh City Hall* Now that the sun is setting, the light yellow walls, white floral carvings and the iconic clock tower make it feel like a European palace has been moved here.* Location: Ho Chi Minh City Hall* Then I said, there is also Mr. Ho Chi Minh’s statue. Many people gathered here to take photos with the statue. There are so many people here. Maybe there will be an event tonight. Mr. Ho Chi Minh’s statue is in front of the City Hall. And (YJ asked the locals) there really is an event tonight. I saw many soldiers (?) walking in a line with a dog. Just now YJ asked the locals, there really is an event tonight. These people walking the dogs are called mobile riders. The dogs they are leading are well-trained and will not run around or bite people. Now they have started walking again. It is really super spectacular. These dogs don’t bark, which is very good. And next to me is… hidden by the trees, the Saigon Opera House. When it was built hundreds of years ago, it was specifically for the nobility to enjoy performances. *Location: Saigon Opera House* Now it is a place where the public can watch performances, but you need to buy tickets to enter. Since we didn’t have enough time, we didn’t go in. This morning, there were still cars passing through this street, but now it is closed. Instead, there are mobile tanks and children doing obstacle courses here. Now we have arrived at the most famous landmark to check in. *Location: The Cafe Apartment* This place is basically a treasure chest of cafes. Now we are going to go up to the 5th floor to one of the cafes to have coffee and take photos. *Location: The Cafe Apartment* *From the outside it looks like an old apartment, but walking in is like entering a maze of inspiration* After entering the cafe, we plan to go to the rooftop to enjoy the strong wind. YJ: It’s very hot. Why: If you want to stay indoors , let’s go inside. Canice: Let’s go back inside . It’s too hot. But here we can really see the night view of Ho Chi Minh City and the activities going on. Since it’s too hot outside, let’s go back inside. Durian coffee. YJ had almost finished his coffee before mine came. Let me taste the durian coffee. Canice: What did you drink? YJ: He drank durian coffee. Canice: Drink it and tell me what it tastes like. It’s a coffee I am very familiar with. It tastes very similar to civet coffee. Try it. It tastes very similar to civet coffee. I don’t know if I drank it wrong. Try it. YJ: Oh, Anton Durian Coffee. Why: Really? Okay, the coffee shop apartment is right behind me . Let’s wrap up now. Canice said our lunch today was the best we’ve had in recent days, especially the coconut fried rice, which was delicious. As for transportation, it’s not expensive to use a taxi here. If you choose to walk, the sidewalks are wide and very friendly. If it rains, motorcycles might occupy the sidewalk, so if you want convenience, it’s better to use a taxi. As for the weather in Ho Chi Minh City, it’s quite similar to Malaysia, so we adapted quickly. That’s it for the summary. If you’d like to see where I travel, please leave a comment in the comments. *This 4-day trip to Ho Chi Minh City Vlog will be divided into two parts. You can find related videos in the Playlist.* So if you like my video, please like, subscribe, and share it. See you in the next Vlog. Bye.* Also, if you have questions about where we’d like to go or want to know, please leave a comment.*

📍DAY 3:🇻🇳
📍DAY 4:📸☕
Thái Bình Market,
The Cafe Apartment

Saving this as my future Ho Chi Minh travel guide! ❤
