イランでのトロフィーハンティング 4. エスファハーンのムフロン。 [4K]

Hunting in Iran is absolutely suitable for beginner
hunters. We ’ ll be shooting at 800 meters. We absolutely need to get a good trophy… Only 1 % of all people on Earth literally live above
2,500 meters… And there ’ s a simple explanation for that. Life in the mountains is very hard. There ’ s little oxygen, it ’ s hard to get water, and
farming is difficult. The mountains allow for only one type of
livelihood—hunting and gathering. But most people on Earth have spent their lives by
herding and farming for many centuries… throughout history . But there are people who, again and again, choose to go
to the mountains… to experience a truly primal and fundamental way of life. I do n’t want to think about anything right now, I just
want to simply gaze at this beauty … and enjoy the majesty of nature. We are approaching the spot from which we will see the
animal, and then the hunter will show us a beautiful shot. This is a story about people who seek ways to reconcile
the wild with the progress of human civilization. “ Trophy Hunting in Iran… Film 4. ” “ The Esfahan Mouflon. ” February … First time in nine years, hunting Red Sheep permitted
in Iran. In addition, hunter Sergey Mazurkevich has another goal
— the Esfahan Mouflon. The journey is planned for 8 days and will begin in
Tehran. At Tehran airport, famous hunters meet a renowned
hunting organizer Esrafil. Each of the hunters will go to their intended target by
their own, individual path… One group will go to search for and hunt the Red Sheep…
and gather resources… And if you quickly and efficiently secure the
prestigious Esfahan Mouflon trophy, then both groups will join together… Excellent! Welcome to Iran… It ’ s great to see you! Iran has extremely strict and comprehensive hunting
regulations… For example, it ‘s difficult to bring your own weapon
into the country, and transporting firearms on domestic flights is prohibited. Weapons can only be transported by car within the
country, which is why the hunter begins his journey in Tehran. – Wishing you a swift hunt! – We ‘ll absolutely do our best! Good luck… and take care! – We ‘ll definitely try not to scare off all the red
sheep! – Yeah, leave one red sheep for me! – We ‘ll drive the entire herd of cattle right to you… – Quickly lead them to the airport! Dear followers of nature-conserving hunting! This is our fourth time in Iran. We have a license to hunt the red sheep, and that ’ s a
stroke of luck. This type of hunting was banned in Iran for 8 years. “ Hunting in Iran is both truly fascinating and quite
difficult for me…, because twice I wasn ’ t able to get a trophy here. ” Hunters know how frustrating it is to return home
without a trophy after long journeys. But this creates a strong incentive to travel again… 620 kilometers from Tehran, in the heart of Iran, a
true oasis awaits us. Luxurious royal apartments…! An experienced hunter knows that most of the expedition
is taken up by logistics. The hunt for the Esfahan mouflon will take place in the
Yazd province, in Iran. In Iran, there are specific locations where hunting is
permitted, provided all the country ‘s rules and laws are followed. To hunt in Iran, you need to travel a lot by car to
locations where wild rams find food. Then you have to meticulously and carefully assess the
trophy quality of the ram and thoroughly get within shooting distance… The road from Tehran takes about 7 hours and runs along
the Kuh-Rud mountain range. These are mountains in the center of the country,
stretching for 900 kilometers. The highest peaks reach 3,000 meters. Iran has many deserts, and water accumulates only in
the mountains. The Isfahan sheep, a hardy breed, inhabit these rugged
and remote mountains… This is the rams ’ favorite habitat, while people build
their cities in the deserts. Today, indeed, we still have an ample half a day… to
prepare the rifle for the hunt. Two years ago, while hunting in Iran we did n’t have
enough time to get a mountain goat, and the same thing happened again a year ago. We came here, once again, for the third time,
specifically to hunt for this trophy… A year ago during a hunt in Iran, Sergey Mazurkevich
missed an Isfahan ram. An old ram at a distance of 300 meters was standing in
a poor position for shooting, and the kill zone was very small. There was a gusty crosswind blowing, which could also
have affected the shot. – The crosswind is a problem, and the kill zone is only
15 centimeters. We might wound the ram and it could escape, and that
would be bad. I was waiting for the ram to turn sideways, but the
animal disappeared. – What kind of food do you like? You can ask to have something you enjoy prepared … – We ‘ll eat delicious traditional Iranian food, let
Masum choose himself. After checking into the hotel, the hunter goes to sight
in his rifle. On this hunt, Sergey Mazurkevich will be utilizing, for
the very first time, a new barrel caliber and different bullets… After a flight, the weapon typically always needs to be
calibrated… in under new conditions. I will be using a .300 Norma Magnum cartridge with a
new bullet. The ballistic characteristics of this bullet are better
than those of the Hornady 230 gr bullet. This bullet has a noticeably different shape. The first shot will be at a distance of 100 meters, and
the next one at 1000 meters. – That will definitely be convenient… Place the target
here. – I ‘m ready to fire. – All good, certainly… – Take a look at where I hit the target. These are unfamiliar shooting conditions for me. – This bullet stays stable in flight and wind barely
affects it. – Strong crosswind. But the bullet… very much maintains its trajectory. – Hit in the center of the target. – Alright. – I ‘ll take a control shot. – You may fire, please. – Take a look at where I hit and point to the impact on
the target. – The bullet hit right on the target. – Got it. I ‘ll take another shot. – I ‘m done. – Bring the target over here. – The bullet drifted a little … – Here ‘s the first hit, second, third, and fourth… – This is fantastic! Shooting at a distance of 1000 meters. – This is the animal ‘s kill zone—very accurate
shooting! – Let ‘s shoot like this on the hunt too! Yes, alright, I ‘ll try… Now comes an informational spoiler. The guide ‘s wish will certainly indeed surely be
fulfilled… … but not completely. This caliber makes the bullet ‘s flight significantly
more resistant to wind influence. Wind speed: 6 to 7 meters per second, adjusted windage
three clicks at 900 meters. Three hits landed within 0.5 MOA at 900 meters. That ’ s a good result for hunting. I had time to carefully prepare for the hunt without
rushing. I thoroughly learned the ballistic characteristics of
the new bullet in the climatic conditions of Iran… It ‘s definitely much hotter here than in my homeland…
And I ‘m using a new bullet. Before this, I had only fired this bullet once at a
shooting range in Russia. In a straight line from Yekaterinburg to the equator,
the city of Yazd is right in the center. The city has existed for 4,000 years and is the center
of Zoroastrianism in Iran. There are no religious wars here between Zoroastrianism
and Islam. In ancient Persian, the word ‘Yazd’ is traditionally
understood to mean ‘deity’… Its geographical location protected the city from wars
that took place in Persia. Ancient architecture is preserved. The houses in Yazd were traditionally built from adobe
bricks, which do not heat up in the sun and effectively keep the interiors cool… The city of Tehran, undoubtedly the capital of Iran,
looks more modern… The city of Yazd is the heart of Iran, and it has its
own rhythm. People build cities, expand urban areas, and drive many
animals out of their natural habitats. That ’ s why people really should help animals whenever
possible. If we don ’ t help these animals, their populations
will eventually decline… On behalf of all hunters, I sincerely thank you… truly . You are doing important work here. You put in a lot of effort to truly preserve the
Isfahan mouflon. And you indeed organize trophy hunting excellently… You
are outstanding professionals. It ‘s +15°C outside. There are many green trees. But it ‘s February now, and it gets dark by 6:00 PM. The hunter needs to have time to rest. He has to wake up at 5:00 AM. We know that you ’ ll certainly be shooting at long
distances… – The wildlife rangers are aware of where we ’ ll be
hunting. There ’ s a specific place where the Isfahan mouflons
graze… We ’ ll go there. – After lunch we ’ ll go on a city tour. Let ’ s not rush right now. The weather is great, and the hunt will be great too. Finding a good trophy is like finding a diamond! In the end, everyone should be happy. – Are you ready? Then let ’ s begin! – Let ’ s go! We ’ re on our way! 24 % of the Earth ’ s surface is covered by mountains. And each mountain system has its own character. The mountains of Iran are located in deserts. There, it ‘s only sand and salt. Mountains cover almost a third of the country. In 2005, the highest recorded temperature on the planet
was registered in the Iranian desert: +70.7°C. Iran faces a critical water shortage. But there is life in the mountains, and it needs human
protection. It may seem strange, but it is trophy hunters who are
actually preserving this life. We dedicatedly stop poachers, and we actively uphold
the law strictly. … Responsible trophy hunters typically only shoot older
males, and the wild animal population is growing. Young rams, the younger male sheep, are given a chance
to leave behind… healthier and stronger offspring. There are even more wild rams out here now… This is
truly paradise on earth, without a doubt… But in this paradise, hunting laws are strict:
harvesting wild rams with horns under 50 centimeters and mountain goats with horns under 70 centimeters is
forbidden. If an animal is only wounded during the hunt, or if
another animal is accidentally injured, heavy fines are imposed. On state hunting grounds, no more than three shots are
allowed. After that, the hunt ends, even if the hunter missed. Firing more than two shots at an animal is forbidden,
but if the animal is wounded, a third shot is allowed. A wounded and unfound trophy is paid for as if it were
taken, and the license is closed. That is why every hunter is extremely careful when
choosing a trophy. Hunting for the Isfahan mouflon is quite suitable for
beginner hunters. You don ’ t have to walk very far in the mountains—just
around 2 or 3 kilometers. The mountains here are noticeably lower than those in
the Caucasus or the Altai. But when I go hunting for the Red sheep, we ’ ll
definitely need to change our strategy. The Red sheep graze at elevations above 3,000 meters,
where there isn ’ t enough oxygen for people… making it much more challenging overall. We ’ ve spotted a herd of sheep, and there are trophy
rams among them, right over there. The distance is 1,200 meters… We need to get closer. We ’ ll carefully figure out which way the wind is
blowing, in order to make sure the sheep don ’ t catch our scent as we approach … as we get closer. Sheep see us as if through binoculars – One group of sheep is over there … – There are only females in this group. In the other group of sheep I see males. – We ’ re observing two groups of sheep … – Mustafa said he saw a big male … – We ’ re not in a hurry; we ’ ve planned two days. – I see two rams, the one on the right is bigger. – Yes, we ’ ll go hunt that one… I see another one … – The ram on the left, I think, is, well… probably…
bigger. – This ram is older. He ’ s gray. In the center, there ’ s a young male individual… We
need to get closer to see for sure and confirm. – Let ’ s move closer. We spotted an impressive old trophy ram, and we have
enough time to move in and get closer to him… There ’ s a very large population of rams here, so the hunt
should be good. Within a few hours, the temperature rises from 0°C to
+15°C. – It ’ s hot Warm air currents rise from the ground. This is clearly visible through any optical device. Making an accurate shot at a distance of over 1
kilometer is very difficult. That ’ s why the hunters decide to close the distance
and approach the rams between the mountains. Many centuries ago, Persian peoples lived by hunting. At that time, the relationship between humans and
nature was defined not by the state, but by religion. Islamic holy scriptures contain rules for hunting. Halal means what is permitted, while Haram means
forbidden. Hunting at night is haram because night is when all
living things rest. It is forbidden to hunt during pilgrimage to holy sites . During this time, a Muslim must be in a state of
complete peace and harmony with the surrounding world. According to Islamic rules, you can not strangle an
animal while hunting; you must hunt using a sharp weapon . It is better to hunt with a rifle, because it is a more
humane weapon than a knife or an arrow. There are other rules as well… But in the present age, the old rules are no longer
enough to preserve wildlife. A new way to increase the population of wild animals is
trophy conservation hunting. We strive to carefully preserve precious wildlife and
the beauty of nature for the benefit of future generations. … And we need to talk about it. We need to preserve nature for children And when the wild rams enter their mating season … Hunting is prohibited… That is the law. These rules are designed to help maintain the
population of wild sheep in the wild. Hunting is only allowed specifically for old rams. This is what is known as trophy conservation hunting. Masum says all gamekeepers are pros And every professional chooses their own path … One went to the right, another to the left … And we,
on the other hand, will take the easy way. But any path in the mountains is difficult to travel… Mountain hunting is really tough hunting. But efforts lead to desired result – We have climbed to an altitude of 1,200 meters, but
we need to go a little higher to reach our goal. – We are approaching our intended target. The wind is blowing from the direction of the animals,
so they ca n’t sense us. Soon we will see the wild rams, and then Sergey will
take the shot. The hunters’ assumption was right; behind the mountain
gamekeepers saw Isfahan rams. There is a trophy ram… in this group. – We can, in fact, get within 600 meters… No I ‘ll shoot 800 meters. That ‘s the same ram we saw from below… and we really
wo n’t get any closer at this point. – I see… the target. – We need to precisely measure the distance… While the hunter is getting ready to shoot, the rams
move behind the rocks. – It ‘s gone! – I ca n’t see the target. The rams feel safe on this mountain. In their lives, these rams have never heard the sound
of a gunshot. People are 800 meters away from them and do not cause
fear. That ‘s why the hunter, in fact, has time to prepare
for the shot… When the Isfahan ram comes out from behind the rock the
hunter will be ready to shoot. Fifteen minutes later, the hunter spots the target
again. – No, that ‘s not the ram… that ‘s not really our
actual target at all. He left. A few minutes later, a second ram appears. The trophy male appears on the mountain third and lies
down. – What ‘s the distance? Distance 800 – Distance is 886 meters … Two young rams are standing off to the side. The old ram has the right to rest alone. According to Iran ‘s hunting laws, the hunter is
allowed only three shots. If he misses, the hunt is over. The hunter waits for the ram to stand up. – I ‘ll wait a little longer … – When the animal is lying down, the target area is 30
% smaller, so there ‘s a higher chance of missing. This is a test of patience… and perseverance. Time passes. The Isfahan ram is lying down, does n’t intend to get
up. Other predators… are also watching this hunt. Hoping to get some food, an imperial eagle is watching
the hunt from a neighboring mountain. Isfahan rams are small animals, weighing up to 65
kilograms. They sense danger from afar, and it ‘s difficult to get
close to them. Rams can run quickly across flat terrain, and soon they
‘ll show people their skills. An hour has passed, and the hunter decides to shoot at
the ram while it ‘s lying down. – All right … get ready … That was an almost perfect shot However, the bullet
shifted slightly to the right and did n’t stop the animal . – 886 meters. – I did n’t wait patiently at all for the ram to stand
up… and decided to shoot… Using the reticle, I determined the size of the kill
zone to be 16 cm. If the ram had been standing, the kill zone would have
increased to 25 cm. Between me and the ram there was a steep, narrow, rocky
mountain gorge, with the wind steadily blowing through it… – I wounded him, and he ‘s just about to fall. We ‘ll approach the ram… and carefully evaluate his
condition; as needed, another shot might be necessary. The hunters climb up to the rocks where the wounded ram
disappeared. They see dark blood on the stones… … Suddenly! Now, every second and the hunter ‘s skill are crucial. The bullet severely damaged the hind leg, but the ram
did not lose mobility and could still escape into the surrounding rocks. Hitting a moving target is difficult. The distance changes fast and adrenaline makes aiming
hard. The hunter estimates that the target is about 200
meters away. There is no time to calculate and adjust the scope. This is a shot taken by intuition. – Today I saw what a tremendous job the team of rangers
does in Iran. Their work gives us the opportunity to hunt properly. This kind of hunting allows the local animal
populations to be preserved. The wild rams and mountain goats here are truly
beautiful. – Here is the entry wound, and this was the second hit . When he was lying down, the target area was no more
than 20 centimeters. – Estimate how old he is. Seven eight years – Thank you! Thank you for organizing the hunt. – Isfahan famous ram. – This is one of the most beautiful trophies a hunter
in Iran could ever dream of. – I ’ m collecting genetic material. I ’ ll send this to our ‘Mountain Hunters Club,’ and
from there it will be forwarded to scientists for research … The scientists will conduct experiments to
determine how animal subspecies are changing. This work is very important. And hunters contribute to scientific discoveries. It ‘s not difficult for us, but it ‘s indeed important
for science. This ram is eight years old; he has already fulfilled
his natural role in continuing the species. We paid for the hunt and the trophy, and this money
will help protect and increase the number of animals in this region. The population of Isfahan rams will grow. Trophy hunting helps to significantly preserve and
protect wildlife on our planet… There are many wonders and beauties on Earth. – Are you going to shoot? – Yes. – The road is very long… – Looking at these mountains… we keep learning. – We find a ram, … we shoot. This man is a legend of mountain hunting in Iran. For us, it is an honor. The situation is, intriguing.
