Tour 8 Bản Mai Châu – Một Ngày Bình Yên Giữa Núi Rừng Tây Bắc | Phụ đề đa ngôn ngữ
Today, we’re exploring Mai Chau town! We rented an electric car for the whole morning to grab some breakfast and visit 8 villages in town. We’re gonna enjoy Mai Chau’s ecological vibe, and experience some cool craft villages! Let’s gooo! This car fits up to 10 people! It’s super comfy and eco-friendly. My friends are all super excited! We’re kicking off our journey from Ban Lac, the most famous central village in town. It’s also the very first place to start community-based tourism back in 1993! This village is home to the Thai ethnic people, with over 700 years of history! But first things first, we gotta get some breakfast! 😀 Today’s breakfast is Banh Cuon! This place also sells Bun Cha and Pho. It’s super easy to find, right on the main road. Here’s how they make Banh Cuon. Thin layers of rice noodle sheets are steamed from rice flour batter. The filling is minced meat and wood ear mushrooms. It’s all handmade, so customers have to wait a bit. Banh Cuon is served with grilled pork, which is also an ingredient for Bun Cha. Waiting so long, I’m just gonna eat this leftover Com Lam from last night! It’s still super soft, and dipping it in sesame peanut salt is just amazing! All gone! These are the herbs served with Banh Cuon: mint, and Vietnamese balm. My order is here! The dipping sauce for Banh Cuon has grilled pork patties. In Hanoi, it’s usually served with pork sausage and diluted fish sauce. And this is grilled pork wrapped in wild betel leaves. You eat it by dipping the Banh Cuon into the bowl. You can dip it more or less depending on whether you like a strong or mild flavor. Breakfast done! We’re hitting the road to visit the 8 villages. The car’s winding through green rice fields. The weather today feels like it wants to rain, which is pretty nice because it’s not hot! Almost every house in this village is a homestay. The Thai ethnic people are known for their wooden stilt houses. Back in the day, they kept livestock under the house, but now it’s “Mazda CX-5s”! 😀 Since they’re doing community tourism, all the houses are well-maintained. The village roads are paved with concrete or asphalt. The 8 villages are: Ban Lac, Nhot, Van, Pom Coong, Ban Pu, Phuc, Buoc, and Thung Mai. The car stopped in front of a homestay in Chieng Chau. They invited us to visit a check-in spot opposite Mai Chau Moment homestay. The check-in spot has a 10,000 VND entrance fee, which is super cheap, but I didn’t like it because it looked so fake. Nothing special at all. This girl is inviting our group to rent ethnic costumes. One girl from our group already rented one! We’re heading to a coffee shop now, Four Seasons Cafe. The seating overlooks the rice fields. It’s a peaceful space, smelling of rice. You have to go inside to order drinks. This cafe is part of a homestay, Mai Chau Four Seasons in Na Chieng hamlet. The rooms are built against the mountain cliff. Let’s check out a room! Wooden-framed glass doors. Inside there are two single beds, a minibar, a clothes drying area, and a private bathroom. This room has air conditioning. The room is quite small; two beds pretty much fill up the space. A fake fireplace. Behind the room is the mountain cliff. There’s a crack in the glass. The bathroom has a water heater. I don’t really like this place. The characteristic housing here should be stilt houses. The owner did try to use some eco-friendly materials, like stone and wood. There’s a small crevice here, let’s check it out! The forest trees hang all the way down here. Spooky! Behind there’s an entrance to a second-floor room. Nothing special. Let’s head out. There are also some rooms for rent over there. The design is similar to the room we just saw. The backyard of the house. Quite a lot of rooms. Over there is a stilt house. Black coffee, no sugar, that’s how I like it! Plastic cups, plastic straws… so many single-use plastic items. Goodbye, Mai Chau Four Seasons Homestay! We won’t be able to listen to traditional music or dance the Sạp dance because it’s a national mourning day today. A former Party and State leader passed away due to old age and weakness. So, we’ll go explore another cafe instead, which also serves breakfast. The food is quite diverse, and it’s only 50k VND! Everything is so neat, and clean. Up there, there’s a seating area with a view of the rice fields. So peaceful! Mountain Coffee. So pretty! Drinking coffee amidst the rice fields! Eco-friendly materials, that’s great! Even the sound of each step is pleasant to hear. No one wants to miss the chance to check in at such a beautiful place! Riding the electric car made us a little wet. We’re stopping at a brocade weaving shop. Everything here is handmade! Great for souvenirs! Are the products made right here? They still use the traditional weaving method. Weaving one piece of fabric takes quite a while, but it doesn’t look too difficult. The hardest part is threading the fibers through that loom. The owner said it requires two people to do it, and it takes a really long time to thread each fiber like that. And here’s the finished product! You can buy these as gifts for your loved ones. And that wraps up our tour for today! See you all in the next videos!
