あじさいの名所を巡る鎌倉日帰り旅|明月院|円覚寺|成就院|極楽寺駅|北鎌倉

I got up early in the morning in mid-June and rode a packed train to come see the hydrangeas. My first stop was Meigetsuin Temple in Kita-Kamakura , more than 30 minutes before the gates opened, and I was surprised to see that there was already a line! While waiting in front of the gate, I came across a heart-shaped hydrangea alreadyThis is my first visit to Meigetsuin, so I immediately take a stroll through the gardensAlthough it is a weekday, there is a never-ending line of people looking forward to seeing the hydrangeasMeigetsuin is also known as the temple of flowers, and is one of Kamakura’s leading hydrangea spotsThe beautiful light blue hydrangeas that fill the temple grounds are said to be called “Meigetsuin blue” I secretly rejoiced when I found a heart-shaped hydrangeaThe morning dew makes them even fresherHere and there are hydrangeas of different colors, which are also beautifulI climbed the stairs to the main hallThere was a line of people wanting to take pictures of the round windowIt ‘s called the “Window of Enlightenment”It’s a beautiful, modern sightThe dry landscape garden that spreads out in front of the main hallSurrounded by so much greenery, it even feels coolIt ‘s the beginning of the rainy season, and from now on with each rain the blue color will deepen There was still a steady stream of people. It was a different world where you didn’t feel the humid heat. I took a break at a nearby cafe. VERVE COFFEE ROASTERS KAMAKURA It seems you can sample coffee . The shop is spacious and bright, and the comfortable space allows me to enjoy delicious coffee. I ordered a cafe latte. This shop has a roasting plant attached to it. They use carefully selected, high-quality beans . Now that I’ve cooled down, I resumed my stroll. Thank you for the meal! One of the most prestigious temples in Kamakura. The Engakuji Main Gate is located right next to Kita-Kamakura Station. The admission fee to visit is 500 yen. One of the highlights of Engakuji is the Sanmon Gate, a prefecturally designated important cultural property. It is large and impressive. The hydrangeas at Engakuji were also in full bloom. The temple grounds were very spacious and not crowded, so I was able to worship at my own pace. After struggling to climb up about 140 stone steps, I came across the Bentendo Hall and the national treasure Ogane. It is said to be the largest Ogane in the Kanto region. Next to the Ogane is the sweets shop “Benten Chaya”. Kou” This shop on the hill recently opened, and has a stylish menu like a cafe. A cute dog on a walk is taking a break. After climbing the stone steps in the rising temperature, I’m completely exhausted… I take a break while feeling the nature of Kita Kamakura . The brown sugar pudding I wanted to eat sold out quickly, so I ordered a coffee float. Thanks to the pleasant breeze, the sweat that was coming out of my mouth calmed down. There are many other things to see at Engakuji Temple, but I would like to visit again in the season of cherry blossoms and autumn leaves. If there was no sign, you would miss it, but at the end of a narrow alley, there is a sweets and cafe called Marun. I would like to have a light lunch at this shop. I arrived a little too early, so I waited for it to open while looking at the cute garden in front of the entrance. You can enjoy the sweets and snacks provided by the owner, who has visited many cafes in France. Inside the shop, there are table seats and counter seats, and there are terrace seats in the back. Each seat has a flower arrangement such as hydrangea, which is relaxing. The pop yellow bench is an accent of the space and is stylish. A cute house cafe surrounded by greenery, “Sweets and Cafes” “Marun” Two types of quiche plate I chose salmon and spinach quiche. The accompanying pickles and couscous salad, which I had never tried before , were fresh with the crunchy yam seasoned with mustard and cumin for the first time. The drink was homemade lemon squash made with organic domestic lemons , sweet and sour, perfect for a hot and humid day! The authentic quiche made by the owner pastry chef was filled with salmon and was very satisfying. I was so full that I couldn’t make it to the dessert I was looking forward to… it was delicious! Thank you for the meal . I took the Tokaido Line and the Enoshima Electric Railway and got off at Hase Station. It was a 10-minute walk from Hase Station to Kotoku- in Temple . The bright vermilion Nio statues are eye-catching. It has been restored due to aging and has regained its current color. The Great Buddha came into view. It has been about 20 years since I last visited it. There are few records from the time of the Great Buddha of Kamakura, so the purpose of its construction, the year of completion, and the person who made it remain unknown . It is said that the purpose of the window on the back is also unknown. Kamakura Great Buddha… I considered paying the admission fee to see inside the womb, but decided not to as there was a line. These were donated so that the giant straw sandals of the Buddha could walk.I was overwhelmed by its size, and felt happy to be able to see its gentle face. The shop was lined with standard souvenirs, and I felt nostalgic and stopped in my tracks. When my sons were little, they would happily show me the souvenirs they had bought for them… Many students on school trips were visiting today as well.I took a break at Ekiyoko Bake, just a short walk from Hase Station.Hydrangea peach lemonade topped with white peach sorbet. This sorbet is so delicious! A hydrangea-colored drink perfect for this season. This is a cute shop that makes you want to stop by during your walks in Hase. I know it’s not good to cool my body, but with so many people and the humidity, I can’t help but want something cold. There was also a spot where you could take a picture of the Enoshima Electric Railway going through the tunnel with the hydrangeas. Many people were holding their cameras. The last stop on our tour of the hydrangea spots was Gokurakuji Station. An atmospheric station. I didn’t know this because I didn’t watch the drama, but it’s a popular station as a filming location for dramas. It has also been selected as one of the 100 best stations in the Kanto region, and the reason for its selection is that it has an old-fashioned atmosphere amidst greenery and silence, giving it a sense of charm and peace . It really has an indescribable charm. The only tunnel in the Enoshima Electric Railway that connects Hase Station and Gokurakuji. On the Gokurakuji Station side is Gokurakudo, and on the Hase Station side is Chitose Kaidō. I managed to make it in time for the opening time. Jojuin Temple, a temple associated with the Hojo clan, said to bring good luck in matchmaking. Many hydrangeas are planted on both sides of the approach , and you can see Yuigahama over the hydrangeas. Photography is prohibited beyond the Sanmon Gate, but I was able to visit the temple safely. The hydrangeas were donated to Minamisanriku Town, Miyagi Prefecture in 2016, so there are fewer than before, but this view is one of a kind. It seems that it was still a little early for them to be in full bloom , but I was very satisfied with the hydrangea tour. I had avoided Kamakura because of the crowds , but it’s no wonder it’s crowded. It’s a place full of charm. The indescribable color of the sky made me get off the train. In front of Kamakura High School. A view I want to look at forever and the soothing sound of the waves. I’m sad to leave, but I’m going home soon. Thank you for watching.
