In front of Tsuzumimon Gate. It’s a perfect sunny day in Kanazawa today. Kenrokuen is one of the three most famous gardens in Japan, a scenic spot that Kanazawa is proud of. Let’s take a stroll through the majestic garden from the Edo period, feeling like a feudal lord. This is probably the main entrance, isn’t it? It’s called Mayumizakaguchi. There are fewer people here. That’s true. There are actually seven entrances. The pond is likened to the ocean , and an island where the immortal god lives is floating, projecting eternal prosperity. It’s also a great atmosphere to have matcha tea and lunch at a teahouse by the pond. The famous snow hangings on the Karasaki pine are very beautiful and cool! You can also see the sacred mountain Hakusan, one of the three most famous mountains in Japan. The huge, conspicuous statue of Yamato Takeru is known as the “copper statue that birds don’t approach”. The cause is the “arsenic” contained in the alloy. It is said that thanks to this, the statue is not affected by droppings. There is no fence on the bridge over the pond, so it was actually a little scary. We arrived at the lively tea shop street. Everyone is taking a break with a delicious snack. In fact, some of the tea shops in Kenrokuen have been in business since the Meiji era, and have been living in Kenrokuen for over 100 years. I’ll try the gold leaf soft serve ice cream, a Kanazawa specialty. A cool hermit chef preparing a snack. I ordered the matcha flavor. The gold leaf sparkles in the sunlight and wraps the ice cream… the delicate handling is also beautiful. Thank you. There’s a golden soft serve ice cream behind me. It ‘s so shiny! It’s said to be modeled after Lord Maeda Toshiie wearing a helmet. Lol I’m sure you never imagined it would look like this. Gold leaf soft serve (matcha) 1000 yen What? Lol The matcha is really delicious. Oh, really? But it really feels like you’re putting gold leaf in your mouth. It ‘s not aluminum foil, but… the matcha is really delicious. Ah , I’m glad. The matcha is really strong. To be honest… I can’t taste the gold leaf lol But it’s stylish. And the gold leaf gets on your mouth. Gold leaf lipstick (?) Next time, I’d like to wear a kimono, sip matcha by the pond, and dine in the tatami room on the second floor of the teahouse. Leaving Kenrokuen, I stopped by the neighboring Ishiura Shrine. The torii gates are very divine… Kanazawa’s oldest shrine, dating back to the Kofun period. It’s said to be a power spot for matchmaking♪ There are 101 torii gates. Just passing through it seems to bring good luck. A contemporary art museum that has won numerous awards, including the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa International Architecture Exhibition. It is a gentle place of relaxation that aims not only to promote the development of art but also to promote exchange between people. It is luxurious to be able to immerse yourself in a space of beauty that contrasts with the historical landmarks. In the open “exchange zone,” some people are taking graduation photos, wedding photos, and casual clothes. Bright and happy ^^ As per the concept of “a museum like a park open to the town,” there is playful art placed outside as well. The silhouettes of the artworks reflecting the sunlight are projected onto the wall. Shadow art in a bright and warm space. For lunch, we went to Mitsuya, a popular onigiri shop for tourists. It seems to be run by a family. They cook carefully selected locally grown rice in a kamado (a traditional Japanese rice cooker) every day, and then softly roll and wrap it tightly in Ariake nori seaweed. There ‘s a wide variety of menu items, so it’s hard to choose! Warm, delicious rice, and perfectly rolled. I’ve never seen onigiri with so many fillings before. Crumbly, the taste of happiness. Thank you for the meal. This vast site, where boys can play peacefully under the wide sky, is the symbol of the Kaga Domain, Kanazawa Castle Park. Although the castle tower and Ninomaru were completely burned down in three major fires, many important cultural properties such as gates and turrets remain, making it a castle ruin that is well worth seeing. The stone walls inside the castle are all different types of stones and stacked in different ways depending on their function, which is said to be a must-see for stone wall enthusiasts. From here, we could also see the sacred mountain Hakusan. Japan’s three most famous gardens and three famous mountains. This is what Kanazawa is all about. “Gyokusen-inmaru Garden” is a private inner garden of the feudal lord, in contrast to Kenrokuen Garden, which was used for hospitality. You can feel the good taste! Entering the seafood paradise of Omicho Market . This market boasts a history of 300 years, and 20,000 to 30,000 people visit it every day. One sea urchin. 800 yen. Tony, this is your first time trying sea urchin! How does it taste? It’s butter of the sea. I love butter. Delicious, delicious. Next is a big sweet shrimp. Delicious! Super fresh. Delicious! Oh, it’s super sweet. Fresh. It’s plump, but it melts… it melts in your mouth a little, and it’s super sweet. Delicious, delicious! Shall I put a little soy sauce on it? Just a little. But if you put soy sauce on it, the sweetness might stand out even more. I guess the saltiness of the soy sauce brings out the sweetness, so it makes the taste more pronounced and more delicious. Kanazawa Oden “Ippukuya” Wheel gluten, daikon radish and… bombs. Looks delicious! The bombs look like huge pieces of pork fat. Wow, so soft! Is it hot? …Maybe it’s hot. It’s hot. Delicious? Hot? It’s hot! Soft and melting, the best. The bombs are hard and dry. Fills you up. The daikon radish melted! You don’t need teeth. My stomach is full from the luxurious blessings of Kanazawa, and I’m very satisfied♪ I visited “Higashi Chaya District” in the evening. After the shops are closed, Edo’s entertainment district sleeps solemnly. Surprisingly, there were few people, and I was able to enjoy a stroll surrounded by silence. I bought a snack called Kuribei because it looked really delicious. How’s it? Butter… Yes, it’s creamy. It’s creamy. Mmm , delicious. This is a picture of the founding of Higashi Chaya District 200 years ago. The restaurant where I ate earlier is Komatsuya “Fusa”. It’s a quiet alley. Quiet, very quiet. I entered a complicated back alley…! It’s exciting and fun, like a secret adult play. Wow, I feel like I’ve wandered into a hidden bar, quietly standing at the back of a sleeping entertainment district. I wonder what kind of people are drinking and talking? I feel like I’ve wandered into an Edo fantasy world. It’s a night when something special seems to be happening. As I walked around the Chaya District once more, I met a beautiful view. I was greeted by the dazzling moonlight. The combination of the full moon and the lattice door is the magic of Kanazawa. The boy went back and forth many times in the light of the full moon and the lanterns. I wonder if he will remember this beautiful view when he grows up? To finish off, I had to have ramen. Miso specialty “Menya Taiga”. It is a very popular ramen restaurant selected as one of Tabelog’s top 100 restaurants. We waited in line for about 30 minutes before entering the restaurant. We were given homemade ginger juice before the meal. What a nice service! Ajitama Akamiso Ramen (spicy shrimp) 1,130 yen . Medium-thick curly noodles in fragrant grilled miso. Let’s eat. As expected from a restaurant with a long line, it’s exquisite. It’s so delicious. The best thing to go with this rich, creamy soup is… white rice! It was a perfect end to our trip. Thank you for watching until the end!
