When Will Disney Adventure World Open and Why So Long?
A couple of weeks ago we went around the resort
looking at all the construction projects currently happening in both parks and outside them in Disney
village. Without a doubt we all know that the main project currently happening in Disneyland
Paris is by far the expansion of the Walt Disney studios park, we’ve been following it here for
years now. Now after a very long time waiting, construction is finally coming to an end on
Phase 2 of the Disney adventure world project which includes renovating studio 1 and production
courtyard, the long promenade that’ll will soon take guests to the lake under the name adventure
way, the large body of water called adventure Bay and behind it the world of frozen with Arendelle,
its imposing mountain range, village houses and the beautiful castle and of course the Frozen
Ever After attraction. There are two questions that most people now have in their heads: “When
will Disney adventure world open?” and “Why has it taken so long for it to be complete?”. Today
I will try to answer both these questions looking at How the project was initially supposed to
be like in terms of timelines, what happened along the way and of course when it should
open for the world. So, let’s dive right in! It all began when Bob Iger sat down with
president Macron, to announce that the Walt Disney company would be investing a total of
amount of $2.5 billion into the Parisian resort, this major investment would be utilized in many
different areas including hotel transformations and renovations, attraction refurbishments,
redoing and expanding Disney village and of course, as we all know, expanding the weakest
park in Disney’s portfolio. Walt Disney Studios was set to receive a very large transformation
starting with the already existing parts of the park in the backlot. This was completely
transformed into Marvel Avengers Campus, a brand-new ride was built from the ground
up, another was rethemed, both restaurants in the land were redone and new experiences came
in. Overall Avengers Campus was a huge upgrade that brought some amazing new experiences, shows
and interactivity to the left side of the park, it was also well received with guests, even if
it has its flaws and weak points. Phase 2 of the project was expanding the park with a long street,
a large lake and a new land inspired by the hugely successful movie franchise Frozen. Phase 3 would
come after all this in the shape of a smaller scale Galaxy’s Edge with a few experiences and
the famous Rise of the Resistance attraction. In terms of when everything was set to open to the
public, Disney wanted a new “big thing” every 2 years, starting in 2021 with Avengers Campus, soon
followed by the largest phase with the lake and World of Frozen in 2023 and then Star Wars land
in 2025. All this was announced in 2018 with it to start not long after, in fact works did begin
on phase one with Avengers campus about a year later with the closure of Armageddon to make way
for WEB adventure. The beginning of earth works on the expansion side of the park also took place,
closing down and removing most of the Studio Tram Tour attraction and getting the whole area ready.
At this time everything was going as it should and on track to open as scheduled, unfortunately
we all know what would come after this… In March 2020 the world came to a sudden stop and
Disney was no exception, the whole resort closed down for months and construction projects were
halted. This was a time that brought a lot of worries regarding the tourism sector and it’s not
hard to understand why making huge investments in building new attractions and additions for
the Parisian theme park was not a priority for the company. As things slowly return to
normal all focus shifted to Avengers Campus, construction slowly restarted but a lot of
time had already passed so much so that it was obvious they wouldn’t be able to make it
to the 2021 original planned opening date. They carried on through and the efforts
paid off because even after the project was completely stopped during a time of
huge uncertainty this first phase of Disney adventure world was able to open in summer
2022. As works here came to an end and the parks were thriving once again with the help
of the 30th anniversary, Disney finally gave the green light to restart the construction on
the expansion, and they did in early summer, if we take a look at how this hull new side
of Walt Disney studios park looked like back in that summer it becomes clearer as to why it’s
still to open, I would even say that it’s quite spectacular how in less than three years what used
to be nothing but dirt became such a lush, green, in spectacular new area. These images are the most
up to date I have, they come from the May 2025 construction update video, and it becomes really
clear just how far ahead the project currently is! So now we know the reason behind all the
delays and why it has taken Disney so long to build Disney adventure world, however we still
haven’t figured out when it’ll actually open up, so join me as I attempt to do so. Currently
construction is moving very well with the current timelines supposedly being met, the E-Ticket
attraction Frozen Ever After is nearly complete, the final touches are being put in many of the
structures around the lake and in Arendelle, the major new night time spectacular there will
soon call adventure Bay its home is currently in the later stages of testing with videos showing
fountains, fire, pyro and other effects all coming together during the night, and many other signs of
construction being close to an end are appearing all throughout. According to rumored information,
it should all come be complete by early fall, however after this come other important stages
that include all kinds of testing, adjustments and training to make sure everything runs and works
as smoothly as possible, let’s not forget that this is the largest expansion to Disneyland Paris
since the opening of the original park in 1992 in terms of sheer size, there are many moving pieces
from infrastructure, guest facilities, rides, shops, restaurants and food kiosks, all kinds
of media and sound and so much more. All this to say that it will take a while longer after
construction comes to an end for everything to be ready to open, after this comes another
problem: we’re now in the beginning of winter! The whole Adventure Way and Bay areas hugely rely
on greenery, flowers, gardens and open spaces, opening during the start of winter when the skies
are grey, it’s cold and with rain would be far from perfect, this is why major new projects
in Paris open during the Spring, with both parks doing so, accompanied by Tower of Terror,
Space Mountain, Place de Remy and many more. Seeing this is the case, while things may be
getting ready to open by the very end of the year, it doesn’t make any sense to do so… However,
what we could possibly see are soft openings! Back when Tower of Terror was being added
to the park, Disney set the official opening date and opening ceremony for April 2008, but
soft openings took place from December 2007! I seriously believe we might have a similar
situation to that with Adventure World, giving Disney the green flag to open most things
before the official opening in order to test and adjust with a long time and at ease. So, while
soft openings might be in the cards for very late 2025 or very early 2026, it’s believed the grand
opening won’t be for a couple of months later, possibly in March. Now, why do I say March, well
the month has a lot of good qualities to it, first of all Spring starts on the 19th and
the weather starts becoming a little nicer, trees, flowers and plants all get greener
and the days longer. However the reason I think plays a big role on choosing this month
lies with historic value, Walt Disney Studios Park opened on March 16th and completing such a
big milestone on the transformation of the park, so big that’ll earn it a new name, should
be celebrated on its anniversary. This isn’t just me thinking things, known insider
Magic Focus pointed to March as being the current opening month and, in my opinion,
it makes complete sense as I’ve explained. Let me give a big warning too because until Disney
announces a date, this is nothing but speculation and rumors, if you, like many, are planning
on visiting the park to experience everything, please wait until official dates come out
or you may miss it by just a couple of days! The opening of Disney Adventure World will be
much more than just 2 new rides being added, it will completely transform the way we see and
experience the second gate of the Parisian resort, it will have many novelties from restaurants,
places to explore, new snacks and merchandise, a brand new immersive themed area, a new E-Ticket
dark boat ride (the first since 92 in Paris), new shops and so much more, and of course how
could we forget that at the end of the day the new nighttime spectacular, whose location was
purposefully built around, will light the skies of this new-ish park. And so, we come to an
end, do you think it could open on the 24th anniversary of the park? Let me know your opinions
down below! Once Disney announces an opening date, I’ll be here to talk about everything, so make
sure you’re subscribed! And now, as always, thank you for watching and that’s a wrap!

Why did you say that the expansion includes 2 new Rides? The expansion actually contains 3 new Rides these are Frozen Ever After,The Tangled Ride and the Up Ride. As The World Of Frozen is opening the Frozen attractions inside Animation Celebration will be redundant. I wonder if the part of Animation Celebration that currently houses the Frozen attractions will be redeveloped. Personally I’d like the Frozen attractions inside of Animation Celebration to be replaced with a Monsters Inc area. The original Monsters Inc area adjacent to Studio 1 was removed following Studio 1 reopening as World Premiere. As Monsters Inc is a popular Pixar Film and Animation Celebration is located in The World Of Pixar I think a new Monsters Inc area should be created.
I think i will wait until all the lands are open. Last time i went i was so disapointed in Paris felt like a building site all over the place.
Disneyland Paris is good and I like that it's close to me… But after visiting Orlando I see no reason to go again until Lion King opens (maybe)
Controversial comment however I think when this fully opens it will be a better park the Disney Hollywood Studios! Which has only 9 rides. Disney Adventure World will have a better layout along with 13 rides available plus 2 upcoming with Lion King and UP! HS only has 1 upcoming ride. This will no doubt put this park off the bottom for Disney parks!
It was already announced months ago, that it will open in 2026, we just still don’t know when in 2026…
Disney needs to use different words other than Adventure
The whole expansion project is a very bad advert for DIsney and the french construction industry, so, so slow. The Chinese would have built it in 18 months.
Dlp is testing my patience. 😂
Thanks for making these videos!
Disney just likes to spread it's capex investment over as many years as possible. We've seen this in the US parks too.
God chilhood memories and nostalgia it opened for the very first time after my birthday in 2002 9:24.
Used to go a lot both the Main Park and Walt Disney Studio when I was little
It was massive and so popular back then. More magical
Missed Armageddon and Rock and Roll Roller Coaster
Ive done all the Originals Attractions before some of them got new update.
Not sure Id love to come back. I feel discarded
DLP right now at the beginning of June 2025 has far, far too much construction and revamp work going on. So many rides and areas closed that what's left is getting choked.
Considering even World Premiere got [slightly] delayed I wouldn’t book my tickets just yet
Frozen ever after is not that good. It's just an overhaul of a 1980s Epcot Ride. The storyline fits on an ID card. Making Europeans wait that long for something so minor will only create disappointment. They are not even building the full land like HKDL
So end of September when we’re going, construction should be complete but definitely no access (as expected). Are they likely to have a way of viewing it? Or perhaps open up Adventure way just a little, with its new access to Worlds of Pixar?
Disney World, right?
i am wondering if they are going to adopt the back side of the tower of terror building.
In America this project would have been finished a year earlier. But that's what happens when you open an amusement park in a country like France, where the main language is French at every attraction and where you stand there looking like a Teletubby because you don't understand a thing. And the French just happily continue drinking wine and eat their baguette and say Vive la France 😎
Where did you get that elevated footage of adventure bay? I tried searching Jojol in YouTube but couldn’t find it?
I feel like they should keep the name Walt Disney Studios Park and the earfel tower. It's still movie themed and took inspiration from disney hollywood studios. Also i feel like once the park is done it would be like DCA was in 2012. Before there was so much construction during 2010-2011.
Next year in 2026 👌🏻
I thought it was going to be Smuggler’s Run?
Always enjoy your updates, thank you.
Frozen ride is far from being an eticket.
Great video however.
Renaming it on its anniversary does make sense. I do expect it to be open by late may. What do you think?
As soon as I finally found out the exact date it’s opening, I will book another trip to DLP and go a few weeks (or months) after it opens.
Tickets aren't available after March '26. You used to be able to book much further in advance. That's a sure sign for me, open by April…..with a higher price 😬
Love the videos, thank you
I think it will open April 12
