LAUTERBRUNNEN :
Country life in Lauterbrunnen is peaceful and connected to nature. Mornings start early, with the sound of cowbells and fresh mountain air. The locals are busy with tourism, animal husbandry and household chores. Winter brings thick snow, and the village looks like it’s straight out of a postcard. In summer, the landscape is full of alpine flowers and tourists come for waterfalls and hiking. The community is small, close-knit and carries on centuries-old traditions.
Grindelwald is a mountain village in the canton of Bern, located at the foot of the famous Eiger peak, in the heart of the Swiss Alps. Country life here means cold mornings with views of glaciers and snowy peaks. The locals live off tourism, agriculture and traditional crafts, maintaining a simple and healthy lifestyle. In winter, Grindelwald becomes one of the most popular ski destinations in Switzerland, with over 200 km of slopes. In summer, the village fills with hikers who come for spectacular routes such as the Eiger Trail or the First Cliff Walk. The community is small, friendly and attached to Alpine traditions passed down from generation to generation.
Gimmelwald is a small and isolated village in the canton of Bern, located at an altitude of 1,367 meters, on a cliff above the Lauterbrunnen Valley. The village has no car access, being connected to the rest of the world only by cable car and mountain paths. Country life here is simple, with people engaged in raising cows, producing mountain cheese and rural tourism. The houses are built of old wood, with heavy roofs and balconies full of flowers in summer. In winter, the village is covered in thick snow, and the small community of locals carries on old Alpine traditions. Gimmelwald is known as one of the last authentic villages untouched by mass tourism in Switzerland.
In the Swiss village of Sonogno, life flows slowly, at a pace that only nature dictates, and mornings begin with the jingle of cowbells and the smell of burning wood. The few locals — around 80 people — tend to their gardens, animals and stone houses, which have been built for centuries at the foot of the mountains. The Verzasca River, with its incredible emerald green waters, runs through the middle of the village, offering a place to cool off in the summer and a spectacular landscape all year round. Sonogno is the last village in the Verzasca Valley, in the canton of Ticino, and it preserves the charm of old Alpine settlements, with shingled roofs and narrow streets. Every evening, people gather in the small square for a story, a glass of local wine and news from the village, while tourists who come for hiking and fresh air discover the tranquility of a place where time seems to have stood still. Traditions are preserved intact, and the Ethnographic Museum of the Verzasca Valley tells visitors about the crafts and simple life of generations of mountaineers. In Sonogno, between mountains, dense forests and clear waters, people live according to the ancient order, in harmony with nature and the stories of the place.
