JAL短距離ビジネスクラス(東京-香港)のサービス内容
Today I’m headed from Tokyo Haneda to Hong Kong onboard Japan Airlines in business class (on the 787-9). It’s a completely different seat compared to the JAL 787-9 with Apex Suites – this one is a less spacious seat that’s mostly used for shorter, regional flights around Asia. But is it still the same great Japan Airlines experience? Watch to see the service, seat and food plus beautiful views (including very clear vistas toward Mt Fuji).
This is flight number 5 of my epic ten day oneworld round-the-world trip from November 2024. Don’t miss all the previous videos.

BEVERAGES
Sake
ZAKU HAKURAKUSEI Junmai Daiginjo (Miyagi) Ale 15%
“The ultimate sake to enjoy with meals.” Without relying on the Ginjo-ko (fragrance inherent to Ginjo sake) and sugar content, Hakurakusei rather values the quintessential taste of the rice. Aromas reminiscent of banana and melon with a freshness akin to pineapple. Savor this sake’s gentle sweetness enveloped by refreshing acidity and the calm, lingering afternote.
OR
CHITOSETSURU Junmai Daiginjo “Suisei”
ZAKU MIYABI NO TOMO Nakadori Junmai Daiginjo (Mie) Alc 16%
Miyabi no Tomo is indulgently crafted by bottling only the “Nakadori” portion, considered the best quality with the clearest sake characteristics, in the middle of the pressing process.
A rich, fragrant aroma bursting with fruitiness. Enjoy the delicate, transparent and elegant taste of this Zaku, made entirely from Yamada Nishiki Rice.

Video is great as always. Views looked nice and the drink as well. JAL seems like a great airline and I definitely hope to fly them one day. Have really enjoyed this Oneworld trip around the world so far.
I was reading "fun Times in jail" 😁
JAL operates this aircraft type and seat configuration to Doha. Would you say it is comfortable enough for a long haul flight of 11 hours ?
Gabe – curious to know what your camera setup is. Assume you're using something like an FX3? Just curious to know what gear you're rocking with!
8:18 Yes🤪Hilarious! I began watching Noel Philips for adding things that make you laugh out of nowhere. Occasional random memes, gifs, or clips can make a YT video a favorite of mine that I share to people 💻🎥but for me it’s anything referenced between 80’s movies, The Simpsons, to 2010’s internet clips😅 idk how others or the algorithms view it but I’m smiling 👍
Lost in translation is one of my favorite movies. Would love to go there someday and have a Suntory whiskey in the New York bar.
Thanks for the upload. 😊
Okay, Gabriel. If we were both mega billionaires, you’d own an Airbus A350, and I’d own a Boeing 787-9. You’ve reviewed hundreds of airlines, and a few of them truly stand out. With that said, I still imagine both of our private planes would be staffed by a wonderful Japanese crew. You’d feel right at home with a complete Japanese menu on board. I’m not a foodie, so I’m not sure of the menu, but we’d both be very happy! Thanks – Jim
Great video Gabe – your smooth voice would be fantastic on radio !
Great video again Gabe! We have now been to Japan twice and we just love Japan. Never flown with JAL but we have flown with ANA two times. One domestic from Kagoshima to Haneda and one international flight from Narita to Los Angeles. Both flights with super service minded, lovely and polite crews. I don’t think I have bowed and said thank you so many times as I did in Japan. On both flights very clean aircrafts and excellent generous legroom in cattle class. We are point junkies doing many of our flights on award tickets and unfortunately now with SAS and the transition to Skyteam, there are no Japanese airlines in this alliance but we would love to try JAL.
Always enjoy your content Gabe! Beautiful approach coming in over the water.
I needed to travel to the US for a 2-day business trip and just returned to Japan yesterday afternoon. Between business appointments, my sister took me shopping for favorite food items (35 pounds of trail mix and 5 pounds of chocolate chips) and she had to loudly remind me not to leave my wallet unattended on the counter when I saw something at check-out that caught my attention. I told her that I do this all the time in Japan, but she said this is America, not Japan. Reality hits hard, especially when one has been living in Japan for a while.
As usual, whenever the routing permits, I flew my favorite airline JAL, which definitely did not disappoint. Though American, I felt like I returned home upon landing in Japan. The only issue I have now is my growing angst when I do have to relinquish my residence abroad and return home to Southern California (I have work related responsibilities that require my attention for at least a year).
I’ll be flying the same route in July!
Thanks for the vlog. Yes JAL is also one of my favourorites. Hard to imagine today but in the 1970s JAL used to fly London-Tokyo via three separate routes: Polar route, Silk route and in the late '70s also via Siberia (when the USSR opened its airspace to more foreign airlines). My early JAL flights were in the '70s when JAL had lots of 5th freedom rights which enabled me to take LHR-DEL, DEL-BKK and BKK-LHR. I also did JAL for CAI-BKK. Of course not all these sectors were non-stop as aircraft at that time lacked the range.
Yes!! That’s why I love to travel!!! Wish I could do more
It can be a challenge to review regional business class because the shorter flight duration means you don't often get enough time to enjoy all the perks to the fullest.
What a beautiful statement regarding travel. You’re right about the comfort of coming back to a place and that culture is still there waiting for you.
Always a good time watching your videos either here or on the FR24 channel. Such a calming vibe and great music 😎
JAL is the last airline I would choose – from loungs to onboard experience to catering its an embarrasement to Japan.
I completely agree with you that travel changes your reality. Love it.
