The view is breathtaking. The five peaks of Aso are in full view. We arrived at the Senomoto Rest House. A drive-in built in the middle of the Yamanami Highway.
(I am sure you have seen this place before.) The first floor has Kumamoto’s specialties. On the second floor, there is a buffet restaurant with 100 kinds of dishes. Look at this! There is no “Aozora Deli” lunch box! This time, you can buy it at the entrance. It is very special to eat while looking at the great nature! No matter what you eat, it’s delicious! This is a red beef burger. The homemade sauce and overflowing juices are amazing! The extract collects in the bottom corner of the bag you hold in your hand Spicy and tangy meat with a hint of pepper This was also delicious! French fries on a skewer
Crunchy and crunchy
The inside has a crunchy texture A little hard to eat, but delicious It looks like you can camp there! It was both new and nostalgic at the same time! (What the hell is this?) We arrived at “Aso Forest”. Finally, I was able to come here!
(The last time I was here, it was closed for the winter.) I am going to eat home-grown corn grown in the water and air of Aso! You can even eat it raw! It comes with a toothpick in case it gets between your teeth. This corn is packed with sweetness.
It was really delicious! This is a great view of Aso! There were also many other fresh vegetables from Ubuyamamura! On Saturdays and Sundays, hot dogs are sold at this store! Let’s run to Aso now! On the way, I found
Tenno’s famous water. It wasn’t on my agenda, but I was curious about this famous water. I found out later that the water was especially mild and tasty in Aso City. Even when it rains, the water does not become muddy, and the amount of spring water does not change much. Cold enough to send chills down your back when you touch it Clear water that makes you want to keep looking at it. I was surprised to find such a place! We arrived at Kokuzo Shrine. It is called “Kitamiya” because it is located northeast of the Aso Shrine. The shrine was founded about 2,000 years ago. The path to the shrine is filled with the sound of bamboo leaves rustling and the soothing sound of the wind. The precincts of the shrine are quiet. The shrine pavilion was built in 1672.

Even from afar, it has a strong presence. It draws the heart in. Even though it was damaged by a typhoon, the 2,000 year old trunk has been carefully preserved. You can even touch it! So beautiful! Isn’t it similar to “Oguni Shrine”? After leaving the Kokuzo Shrine, there is a straight path to the Aso Shrine. This road is a straight road of happiness. If you run, you may become happy! (A straight line of about 3 km) (Mt. Negodake and Mt. Takadake are beautiful) We arrived at “Aso Shrine. The enclosure covering the entire shrine was removed to reveal the majestic roof. The tower gate is scheduled to be completed in December. (The first temple was built in 1840.) Let’s draw a fortune! It was “Daikichi,” the highest rank! Itsukushima Shrine was also “Daikichi” and this one was “Daikichi” too! “Roadside Station Aso”!

Shower only (No problem because of the proximity to the spa) Toilet is spacious and comfortable Rooms are tatami mats in Okinawan style
Clean and comfortable It looks like a “MUJI house In fact, most of the tableware, furniture, and appliances are from MUJI! When we asked the owner and his wife, they told us that they wanted to have furniture made of oak wood, and as a result, “Muji” was the only furniture they could find at the time. The view outside is also great! This is a good hotel! I feel like I’m in a foreign country. I want to have a nice meal and bath!
That’s what I thought as I drove to the hotel. I arrived at “Makanaiya MATSU”. a set meal restaurant in front of JR Miyachi station.
It tasted good and was a comfortable restaurant! (Opened in October 2013) Tables are semi-private rooms (Ordering is done with a smartphone) They really wanted to make it in the shape of Mt. Aka-gyu donburi (red beef bowl) not in a bowl Onion and soy sauce based sauce
The chopped wasabi (Japanese horseradish) was the best part of the dish! (It comes with potato chips). If you don’t like red meat, this is the one for you! It was delicious! The owner’s hobby is motorcycles! Taste, service, and atmosphere are all great! Next, the bath! “Cosgiri Resort’s Aso Otohime Onsen Yura Yura”. The main building has 15 rooms and a family bath with free-flowing hot-spring water. This time, we will be staying in a “detached house”. There are 7 rooms in total: 1 special room and 6 general rooms.
(Both rooms have the same spring water quality, sulfate hot spring) There’s a movie playing in front of the pool. I love movies, so I’m very happy to see this feature! This time, I stayed in a room called “Beni” (red). A very spacious and luxurious bath inside! Shampoo and body soap are made of charcoal. The hot spring in Aso is also very nice! You can make a reservation for this “detached house”! It is a hot spring for beautiful skin, so please come! Coffee milk after the bath! Finally, we went back to the hotel and gazed at the starlit sky. It’s so beautiful! It was another great day! Tomorrow we will travel from the crater to Minami Aso. Looking forward to it!
