Van Life on The Arctic Island NOBODY Knows! Surviving a Crazy Winter Cozy Off-Grid Solo RV Camping

Arctic Van Life Adventure! Solo Winter Camping Under Epic Northern Lights 🌌❄️
Join me on an off-grid van life adventure deep in Arctic Norway as I experience extreme yet breathtaking winter camping conditions! 🚐🔥 From battling the elements in remote fjords to cozy nights in my tiny home on wheels, this is the ultimate winter van life experience.

I travel to the hidden gem of Øksfjord, a small fishing village tucked beneath towering glaciers and dramatic fjord mountains. Here, I cook fresh fish and chips under the most intense northern lights I’ve ever witnessed! The next morning, I start my day with a hearty van life breakfast of…Coffee, before taking a 90-minute ferry to Sørøya, one of the most remote and untouched islands in Arctic Norway.

With Big Sur-like coastal cliffs and endless Arctic Ocean views, Sørøya is a van lifer’s dream—wild, rugged, and unbelievably stunning. Despite its usual harshness, I experience unexpected spring-like weather and even more spectacular aurora borealis displays! 🌠

This is solo van life at its best—remote camping, breathtaking scenery, and true off-grid winter survival. If you love Eamon & Bec, Trent & Allie, Max & Lee, or Kara and Nate, you won’t want to miss this Arctic van life journey!

Part of the 2025 arctic tour series:

Surviving my 2nd Winter of Extreme Van Life, Blizzard, Snow Storm Camping & Freezing Cold which includes:
This is my complete second winter of Winter Van Life in extreme conditions in the North, living in a van during freezing temperatures. Starting in November I go through the whole winter season of snowy winter adventures from November to April, with snow storms, blizzards, extreme cold, extreme snowfall, slippery roads and some amazing winter beauty as well.
I also show you what I learn as I go from my second winter in the van.

About me: I am a Norwegian adventurer and wilderness explorer. My youtube channel focus on outdoor wilderness adventures and exploration, backpacking, hiking, canyoneering, skiing, climbing and mountaineering. Nights spent in a tent, alone or with friends. From the snow covered mountains and misty fjords of Norway and Scandinavia to the remote plateaus of Yellowstone and the debts of the red canyons of Utah to the summit of Mt Whitney and the heart of Sequoia Kings Canyon National Park. I love the Wilderness! Email is under “For business inquiries”, for general questions please comment on a video, I try to answer everyone.

  3. I’m a devoted viewer watching from Korea. Watching your van journey brings me so much healing. The peaceful and cozy scenes inside your van, even in the midst of fierce snowstorms, feel like coming home to a warm family after living fiercely out in the world. Cheering you on all the way from Korea!

  4. I've been watching every night for the past week or so. Your clips are excellent. But I have a question: I get a commercial every 6 minutes while watching your channel. Is that supposed to be happening?

  5. Hi jarl, I am a brand new subscriber. Some of the views of Norway . Do you happen to take pics where we can purchase and then get them
    Made into larger prints?

Your videos place me in a good mood for the day !!!

  6. You are living what I would call the dream. Very very nice work on the videos. Thank you so much for sharing in your experience. 🇨🇦

  7. Australia is down south mate..we do have South Pole ..crewed a flight there years ago. Only one fifth of Australia know that white stuff

  8. At least these one lane tunnels all have cctv sms exit points that lead to other exit points

  9. Jarl, you shouldn't salt your french fries before or while you are heating them. It bring the moisture to the surface and forbids them to get crispy. You salt french fries only when they are already hot and in your plate.

  10. That dirt road ride was one of my favorite moments of all of your videos! Wow amazing road!!!! I'd like that you download the whole drive of that dirt road on your other channel!🙏

  11. There is one thing that puzzles me greatly, and that is that you don't have over a million subs!? There is so much rubbish on YouTube that don't deserve the subs that they have. You are amazing, and your content is awesome. I am wishing and hoping for your channel to grow, quickly!!!.

  12. beautiful countryside and like the inside of the tunnel! and like your fish and chips wrap that looked great and the northern lights spectacular! havent seen them in a long time

  13. 00:47:3600:47:49. The reason that they have no snow is probably because the weather gods seem to be following you around in that van, Jarl!

You said on another video that you have experienced a blizzard every four days this winter, on average; it’s obvious that you must have been getting their share of the white stuff. 😅😅

  14. The remoteness is unbelievable. The vastness of the water and ocean makes you realize what a big beautiful world we live in.

  15. Hi Jarl! One of your best videos! I've seen the video twice, once alone, once with 2 friends! Well summarized!
Very nice: -Sundowner, north light, drowning videos, the sea with the mountains, Amazing Winter Streets!
    Thanks for this good job!

    Greetings from Thailand

  16. Australian here but wishing I was Norwegian. There are just not enough soliloquies to do your beautiful country justice. Breath taking, awe inspiring, magnificent is just scratching the surface. Takk for at du viste denne skjønnheten til oss. Ta vare og trygge reiser. (Apologies for my Google Norwegian 😅).
