Did you know that there are many parks and gardens that you can escape to in Tokyo? Rikugien is a landscaped Japanese garden built in 1700 for the 5th Tokugawa Shogun. The garden is a Edo-period strolling garden and includes hills, ponds and streams all connected by lovely trails.

There’s also a tea house where you can sit and enjoy a nice cup of Matcha along with a piece of seasonal Wagashi. It’s one of my favorite things to do, especially when I need to unwind and get away from the crowds.

  1. Been here before, be warned if you visit Japan in Summer you are in for a super sweaty time. Theres a good bingsu/mochi spot in the garden thats a bit more tailored to tourists isnce its a little expensive but its worth it on a hot day. The Mango Bingsu/shaved ice was my favorite.
