HUNTING WITH THE HEADHUNTERS OF BORNEO : Iban Tribe
FOR ALL TOURS IN BORNEO I RECOMMEND: http://www.wheresidewalksend.com/?connect=177
Join us deep in the jungles of Borneo as we stay with the Iban tribe, one of Malaysia’s last indigenous communities still living in traditional longhouses. We ventured into their world, learned their customs, and even went hunting for fish in the wild rivers of Sarawak. This offbeat adventure took us far from the usual tourist paths, offering a rare insight into tribal life, ancient traditions, and survival skills passed down for generations.

Welcome welcome! You will definitely love this place!
I like content you so good
I like weather forest
Awesome
Forest clearing for palm oil has ruined the rivers and streams but some NGOs have been doing great work to rectify some of the problems with success. Greedy corporate and government are really the enemy of these tribes who were doing well on their own.
It's funny, merely two generations ago, my ancestors were still living in dense jungles and were known as skilled headhunters and sailors. And here I am, living in the city with barely any survival skills. 😅

If in Kuching, do visit the new St Peter church there – it's gorgeous
As a Bidayuh, I’m so happy I stumbled across your channel as most foreigners dont delve into the traditional parts of Sarawak. Watching this video just made me reminisce of my childhood days back in my own village.

I've noticed how across your travels we always see Christianity being spread far and wide. It's wonderful and amazing. I'm impressed at how the missionaries got to every corner of the world. ❤
Thank you for sharing this special experience with us! It was such an honor to have you visit the Iban people in their village! We hope you can visit again when the reconstruction project of their new longhouse home is done and see how your visit helped support them! Maybe the rain-gods will be more in your favor next time too hehe 🙂
Fascinating walk through the jungle to find sustenance, living on what the land gives you. In an urban setting, we endure traffic jams
Come sabah,climb mount Kinabalu 🎉❤😊
It is indeed a beautiful natural scenery and the noble people are warmly welcomed you😊
I had an uncle. My dad's friend. I used to go to his long house when I was young to visit my dad orchard here his rumah panjang. At that time, it's a traditional long house. Nowadays, it's changed to contcrate long house. But this the best because located not far from river. Air jernih and sejuk. One I love about Iban peoples in Sarawak, they really respect my family as a Sarawakian Malay. I won't change anything with that. We do disagree sometime but in the end we always thought about 1 thing. Kita tok urang Sarawak. Our ancestors build it with bloods and tears.
Nice
Welcome to my longhouse bro

cari isteri usia 18 tahun tiada sekolah saiz pinggang 29 sebagai isteri pertama jika tidak serasi hidup bersama suatu hari lepaskan saja jangan sakit hati biar mereka temui jodoh kedua sebab usia muda beginilah tabur benih manusia hidup warisan keturunan sendiri Amin
Please come to village annah Rais in Kuching bro.. Bidayuh village
12:33 the elevated longhouses were mainly for defense from enemy tribes. the ladders / stairs can be removed. floors were fitted with trap doors to strike enemies below from smoking & burning the inhabitants
the head hunting period of sarawak indigenous history was indeed bloody & civil war-like. though not recorded extensively in historical literature but tales survive through folklore, artworks like sireh cave paintings or traditional weavings & memorials like bung bratak day
nevertheless, it has shaped the modern sarawakians to be peacefull & accepting. glad to see the international community is interested to learn & showcasing the cultures of Borneo.
