Barcelona has a strict grid pattern, crossed by wide avenues, designed in the 19th Century. This visionary design by Spanish urban planner Ildefons Cerdà, considered traffic and transport along with sunlight and ventilation in coming up with his characteristic octagonal blocks! ♺
