ZIELONA GORA, Poland – Winter Tour – 4K HDR
Zielona Góra, in western Poland, is known for its vineyards and wine culture. Its name means “Green Mountain,” though it’s more of a hill, surrounded by greenery rare for Poland. The city, with 140,000 residents, has a mild climate, ideal for grape growing.
We are visiting Zielona Gora end of December. However, the Wine Festival, or Winobranie, held every September, celebrates local winemaking with music, parades, and wine tasting. Grape cultivation dates back to the Middle Ages and has recently regained importance. The Lubuskie Wine Centre offers insights into the region’s winemaking.
In the Old Town, medieval streets, colorful buildings and the Town Hall clock tower reflect the city’s varied past. Other attractions include the Museum of Lubuska Land, showcasing wine history and antique clocks. The Palm House is a glass structure with tropical plants and city views ontop of a hill.
Statues of Bachusik, a vineyard spirit, are scattered across the city – a playful touch for visitors to discover. Zielona Góra’s vineyards, history, and local traditions make it an interesting place to explore.
So let’s enjoy this winter walk in Zielona Gora!
