貴船神社は、貴船山と鞍馬山の間に位置し、
水神である高龗神を祀る神社です。
古来より祈雨の神として信仰され、
特に歴代天皇が干ばつや長雨に際して馬を
奉納してきたことから「絵馬発祥の社」とされています。
さらに、縁結びや縁切りの神としても知られ、
特に若いカップルに人気があります。
神水は飲用可能で、秋には美しい紅葉が楽しめます。
貴船神社の「水占おみくじ」は、
白い紙の中から一枚を選び、
境内の霊泉に浮かべて吉凶を知る仕組みです。
「大凶」も存在しますが、
神社側はそれを人生の決定とせず、
あくまで参考にするようにと伝えています。

Kifune Shrine is located between Mount Kifune and Mount Kurama, and it enshrines Takeminakata, the god of water. Historically, it has been worshiped as a rain god, especially as emperors in the past have dedicated horses during times of drought or prolonged rain, leading to its designation as the “origin of ema.” Furthermore, it is known as a deity for matchmaking and severing ties, gaining particular popularity among young couples. The sacred water is drinkable, and in autumn, visitors can enjoy beautiful autumn leaves.
The “Water Divination Omikuji” at Kifune Shrine involves selecting a piece of white paper from a collection and floating it in a sacred spring on the shrine grounds to discern good or bad fortune. While “daikyou” (great misfortune) does exist, the shrine advises that it should not be seen as a definitive judgment on one’s life but rather as a reference.
