⁴ᴷ Tokyo: Shimbaba Station (東京都: 新馬場駅) – Japan Walking Tour (November, 2024)

I’ve been struggling with upgrading both my camera and audio equipment, which caused a delay in my uploads. Now that the settings have stabilized, I’ll be back to my regular schedule this week.
This time, I’m filming around Shin-Bamba Station, located two stops from Shinagawa Station on the Keikyu Main Line. The station is close to the first post station on the old Tokaido Road. In period novels and historical fiction, you often come across scenes of people seeing off travelers from Edo as far as Shinagawa-juku. Along this part of the old Tokaido Road, from here to the former site of the Suzugamori Execution Grounds, the road width appears to be as it was back then—just wide enough to allow samurai processions to pass by each other.
