Tokyo First Time Tips | Best Day Trip Place To Visit : Kamakura & Enoshima | Japan Travel VLOG |

This is the very best part of my 5-Day Tokyo Trip
I set out to explore one of the most favourite day trip spots just 1 hour from the city — Kamakura & Enoshima!

Feel free to leave any questions in the comments!

Why Enoshima and Kamakura are the best places to go? Here Are 8 Reasons:

Breathtaking Panoramas: Enjoy 360-degree views of Sagami Bay with Mount Fuji as a majestic backdrop.

Spectacular Sunsets: Watch the sun set over the sandy beaches.

Nostalgic Train Rides: Take a ride on the vintage Enoden Line and experience the iconic railroad crossing.

Anime Landmarks: Visit Kamakura Koko Mae Station, the famous spot from the anime SLAM DUNK.

Enoshima Sea Candle: Climb the lighthouse observatory tower for unbeatable views.

Shonan Monorail: Ride this unique suspended monorail—like a roller-coaster in reverse!

Historical Temples and Shrines: Discover the Kamakura Great Buddha, Hachimangu Shrine, and the serene Hydrangea Temple (Meigetsuin).

Easy Access: Reach Enoshima and Kamakura in under an hour from central Tokyo.

Planning Your Day Trip:
You can start your Enoshima-Kamakura adventure from any of these stations, all within 1 hour from Tokyo or Shinjuku by direct train:
Ofuna Station
Kamakura Station
Fujisawa Station

My Itinerary:

Shonan Monorail to Enoshima Station (14 min of upside-down thrills! Sit at the front for the best view.)
The monorail ride is fast—hold on tight! At the destination, you’ll be treated to a picturesque view of Mount Fuji framed by traditional Japanese homes.

Stroll to Enoshima Island:
Along the way, you’ll pass the charming Enoden Line and its iconic railroad crossing.
Explore stylish cafés, shops, and the coastline. You can take a boat trip to the back of Enoshima to visit a cave, but I recommend walking there and taking the boat ride on your way back.

Explore Enoshima Island:
Enjoy fresh seafood, shop for unique cat-themed souvenirs, and visit the Enoshima Shrine. Though not a “cat island,” you’ll spot plenty of feline friends!
Don’t miss the Enoshima Sea Candle observatory tower, located in the Samuel Cocking Garden. It’s worth a visit even if you don’t plan to ascend the tower, especially for the seasonal flowers. The garden is free to enter before 5 pm (Adults ¥500 after 5 pm).
The Sea Candle offers panoramic views of Sagami Bay and, on clear days, you might spot Yokohama Landmark Tower, Tokyo SkyTree, and Izu Oshima Island.

Explore South Enoshima & Iwaya Cave:
Enjoy ocean views from small cafés and restaurants as you make your way to Chigogafuchi Abyss. Here, the Pacific Ocean is just steps away. If time allows, visit the Iwaya Cave for a small fee and take in the stunning coastal scenery.
Afterward, I took a boat back to the pier, catching the sunset—pure magic!
Ride the Enoden to Kamakura Koko Mae Station:
This vintage tram ride ends at one of Kamakura’s most popular spots. The railroad crossing here is famous from the SLAM DUNK anime, making it a must-visit for fans worldwide.

Sunset at Shichirigahama Beach:
Beyond the crossing lies Shichirigahama Beach. It’s the perfect spot to relax, listen to the waves, and relive youthful memories.

Return to Kamakura Station:
Since I’ve been to Kamakura before and was hungry, I skipped exploring the town center this time. If it’s your first visit, take a stroll along the main shopping street and visit Hachimangu Shrine.

Back to Tokyo Station:
I ended the day with dinner at Tokyo Station, marveling at its gorgeous architecture. Don’t miss the charcoal-grilled beef tongue at Kisuke in Gransta—it’s a must-try!

Coming Up in Parts 2 & 3:

Sushi Dai at Toyosu Market
