Exploring Honcho Street
Before heading to the mountain, I spent some time exploring Honcho Street in Fujiyoshida City. This vibrant street is lined with charming shops, cafes, and restaurants offering local delicacies and souvenirs. It’s the perfect place to immerse yourself in the local culture, try some delicious Japanese food, and pick up unique mementos of your trip.

Capturing Views at Arakurayama Sengen Park
Arakurayama Sengen Park is famous for its iconic view of Mount Fuji with the five-story Chureito Pagoda in the foreground. This park is especially popular during cherry blossom season, but it offers breathtaking views year-round. The 400 steps leading up to the pagoda are worth the climb for the stunning panorama of Mount Fuji and the surrounding area.

Visiting Oshino Hakkai
Our next stop was Oshino Hakkai, a small village famous for its eight crystal-clear ponds fed by snowmelt from Mount Fuji. These ponds are considered sacred and are known for their pure, clean water. The village itself offers a glimpse into traditional Japanese rural life, with thatched-roof houses and beautiful gardens. It’s a serene and tranquil place, perfect for those looking to experience the natural beauty and cultural heritage of Japan.

Next, we visited Oishi Park located on the north shore of Lake Kawaguchi. This beautiful park offers stunning views of Mount Fuji and is famous for its seasonal flowers. In spring, you can enjoy cherry blossoms, while summer brings vibrant lavender fields. It’s an ideal spot for a relaxing stroll, a picnic, or simply soaking in the picturesque scenery.

Enjoying Lake Kawaguchi
Lake Kawaguchi is one of the Fuji Five Lakes and a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Mount Fuji. The lake offers a variety of activities, including boat rides, fishing, and cycling around its scenic perimeter. The views of Mount Fuji reflecting on the lake’s surface are truly mesmerizing. We took a relaxing boat ride to fully appreciate the beauty of this area.
