[4K CHINA] Avatar Mountains Unveiled: Exploring Zhangjiajie’s Wonders

📜 [Intro]
Tianzi Mountain
Tianzi Mountain is located in the Wulingyuan District of Zhangjiajie City, in the northwest of Hunan Province. It was formerly known as Qingyan Mountain and got its current name because of Xiang Dakun, a Tujia ethnic group leader in the early Ming Dynasty, who led a local peasant uprising and called himself the “Son of Heaven”. It is also known as the “King of Peak Forests”.

This mountain area has a total area of 5,473 hectares. The highest peak is Tianzi Peak, with an altitude of 1,262.5 meters, and the lowest altitude is 534 meters. The annual average temperature here is 12 degrees Celsius, the annual rainfall is 1,800 millimeters, there are 240 frost-free days, and the freezing period lasts about 60 to 80 days. It is a tableland landform type.

Tianzi Mountain is a natural botanical garden integrating animals and plants, with ancient subtropical virgin secondary forests everywhere, and rare trees and strange woods can be seen everywhere. The mountain is also famous for its four wonders: clouds and mists, moonlight, rosy sunsets, and winter snow. When the rain stops and the sky clears, the sea of clouds is extremely magnificent. The clouds are like surging waves, sometimes hidden and sometimes visible among the peaks, making people feel as if they are in a fairyland on earth.

There are many scenic spots on Tianzi Mountain, such as South Heavenly Gate, Imperial Brush Peak, Fairy Presenting Flowers, General Platform, Hanging Garden in the Sky, Immortal Bridge, and Gathering of Heavenly Soldiers. Standing on the peaks, one can overlook thousands of peaks and valleys, and the scenery is magnificent and breathtaking.

Yuanjiajie
Yuanjiajie is located in the core of the Zhangjiajie World Natural Heritage. It is in the north of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, with an altitude of more than 1,000 meters. It is known as an “enlarged bonsai and a miniaturized fairyland”.

There is a legend about the origin of its name. After the failure of Huang Chao’s Uprising in the late Tang Dynasty, the imperial court posted notices everywhere to capture the rebels. A general surnamed Yuan under Huang Chao came to this remote and secluded mountain ridge – Qingyan Mountain, to avoid being captured. He built a cottage here, reclaimed land for farming, and named this place “Yuanjiajie” after his own surname.

The main scenic spots in Yuanjiajie include “Avatar Hallelujah Mountain” (also known as Qiankun Column), the Bewitching Terrace, and the First Bridge Under Heaven. The First Bridge Under Heaven is a natural stone bridge spanning between two mountains. It is a magnificent sight. The Bewitching Terrace is a great natural viewing platform. Standing on it, one will be fascinated by the beautiful scenery in front of them.

In Yuanjiajie, you can also enjoy the beautiful scenery of waterfalls, lush bamboo forests, and fresh air. With the completion of the Bailong Elevator, transportation has become more convenient, and Yuanjiajie has become a popular tourist attraction.
