Kinchakuda derives its name from the Kinchaku-like shape that the Koma River meandered through the land over many years. This area is home to one of the largest colonies of red spider lilies in Japan, and approximately 5 million flowers bloom every year on a vast 22-hectare site, creating a spectacular view that looks like a red carpet spread all over.
Higanbana is a unique plant that grows leaves after it flowers, just as the saying goes, “The leaves don’t know the flowers, and the flowers don’t know the leaves.” In Kinchakuda, flowers bloom every year through this cycle, so the best time to see them is limited to a short period from late September to early October. The Manjusha Festival is also held during this season, and you can enjoy traditional food culture and local specialties.
