Shopping
Late at night, there are no shops in the vicinity where you can shop. There used to be a 7-Eleven (convenience store) about a 7-8 minute walk away, but it seems to have closed now. If you walk for about 20 minutes, you can reach the national highway where there are convenience stores and ramen shops.
Access to the Hotel
This time, I went by bus, but on a previous visit, I went by car. Having a private car significantly improves the convenience of shopping and sightseeing. There is a free bus from Katata Station, but only regular buses from Moriyama Station.
Around the Hotel
The road in front of the hotel along the lakeside has heavy traffic. It is a major route along the shores of Lake Biwa, so large trucks frequently pass by. There is a crosswalk to the beach a little east of the hotel, but it doesn’t have traffic lights. It might be a bit dangerous for small children to go back and forth between the hotel and the beach at Lake Biwa. Especially in the summer, the road towards Route 477 can get congested.
Hot Springs
There are rooms with and without indoor hot springs. If you are a guest, you can use the hot spring bath on the first floor.
Lake Biwa
The area is called the northern lake, and its water quality is cleaner compared to the southern lake in Otsu or Kusatsu. The eastern shore of Lake Biwa has a series of shallow beaches.
